I don't think it will be the 56/128-bit encryption unless the UK users are
still using Windows 2000 with IE4 or earlier and have never installed any
updates (doesn't seem likely!).
The most likely problem is that the document is being corrupted during
transmission. One of the best ways to avoid corruption during transmission
is to ZIP the document before attaching it to the email using WinZip or
similar utility. You're welcome to test sending a document to my email
address for testing if you wish. Just copy and paste the email address into
the To box: the address will work as it is.
