    - Saving to Network Share not working I am getting this error when trying to save to the network share e:\\test.doc cannot be found check your spelling or try a different path this does not happen when I have a previous document with the same name on the share already. I am using Word 2007 and have tried saving as .doc and also as .docx and neither one seems to matter. This error does not occur if I am saving it to the local hard drive.     - Mail merge function, emailed documents lost information in "previe Hi, This is a quite odd problem but I have created a document (mail merge) that was sent to quite a large number of recipients. And now I have discovered that when the recpient saves the document on his disc, re-opens it and goes into "print preview" mode ALL "printed" mail-merge fields are lost and instead displaying the original field name (like <<name>>, <<adress>> etc). Is this a known bug or did I somehow make something wrong when I mailed the document (used the function "email mail merge", instead of the common "send to printer"... What is happening and how can I stop it happening? The following also happens if Outlook 2007 is open... Clicking OK brings up a File In Use dialogue box stating; "NormalEmail.dotm is locked for editing by 'username'.     - Current preferences - restore to default values I am using Office Professional Edition 2003 version 11.0.8173.0 As soon as I try to use Word I get " Word has detected a problem with some current preferences - restore to default values?" I then say yes and I get "Microsoft Office Word has encountered an problem and needs to close. ---" It just goes round and round these 2 statements.     - Edited normal.dot causing error message In Word 2003 I opened the normal.dot to change the default zoom to 100%. I saved and closed it. Now, whenever I try to open an attached Word Document directly from Outlook (when Word is not open in advance) I get a pair of error messages. The first says "The command cannot be performed because a dialog box is open. Click OK and then close the open dialog boxes to continue." The dialog box it is referring to says "Word cannot save this file because it is already open elsewhere. C:\documents and settings\...normal.dot" I can click OK on both and the program works normally. If Word is already open, there isn't a problem. Nor does opening a saved file cause a problem.     - error before closing I am using Word 2007 (part of Office 2007) on XPSP2 with all updates. Everytime I close Word I get a dialog saying there was an error and asking if I want to send a report to MS and if I want to recover my work and restart Word. Any ideas why this would be and how I can prevent it? It has been suggested this is related to an HP printer driver and to use a different default printer.     - Saving file fails after mail merge With Word 2003, sp3 and when trying to save a large file (ie 550 pages) after a mail merge, the following error appears: 'Microsoft Office Word: The save failed due to out of memory or disk space. (C:\...\(filename.doc).' The machine has a 2.2GHz processor and 2GB of ram along with 50GB of free disk space, so we suspect something else is causing the problem. TIA for any help on this one ...     - Word 2003 Select text then back space or type over does not work. When I highlight a word in a sentence, I can not remove the word by typing over it or backspace. Highlighting and deleting is the only option. This is not an insert problem. So in the first sentence if I wanted to replace "word", I would go and highlight it and type "sentence".     - When I open MS Word, text already appears on the page Some one was using my computer one day and some how changed the settings to that every time I open a new word document the letters "Jnn" appear on the page. I've tried everything I know of to make it stop showing up but it still appears. I can easily delete it off the page but am getting tired of doing that every time. I finally found where it appears elsewhere. I went to File --> Properties and it shows up as the Title under the Summary tab. I've deleted it from there, clicked ok, and next time I open a new document it shows up again. This is on MS Word 2000. Does anyone have any idea how I can make this go away? Every time I close Word and save something it closes and then shows me the message "there was an error and word has to close..." blah blah blah. then i have to hand-click the little checkbox, open word and recover documents. this only happens when i close it before saving.     - Printing word with emebedded excel tables Currently we have a problem that when printint word 2000 sp-3 documents with embedded excel tables either on a printer or into a pdf document. The content of the excel tables in the printout is not consistent with what is displayed on the screen. The content is showing an older status of the excel table. Only opening and closing all excel tables by double clicking each table and saving the document prior to printing seems to solve the problem. The word documents are automatically generated from DOORS. Thus is quite a lot of work updating the word documents. Did somebody experience the same problem and knows the cause and solution?     - Cannot open docx file in Word 2007 Hi all, I received few docx files as e-mail attachments and could not open them even though I have Office 2007. I saved them on the hard disk, and then used the recovery option, but it did not help. I also downloaded Microsoft converter tool, but still no use. Currently in Office XP (Word) when you hover over a hyperlink or a track change it displays the link or the authorâ??s name, date, and time it was edited inside a box.     - Keyboard Locked on Microsoft Word I am running Windows Vista and open opening the program the keyboard locks. I cannot type anything in Word. I've read that it may need to be activated and that if it already is activated there are steps to take. I clicked on the activation button of my Word but I didn't get a pop up saying it was activated, nor did the activation wizard start. I went through the steps for already activated products but still no avail. Anyone have any ideas?     - Updating cross referencing not working When I update cross-reference (select all/ctrl A, f9/right click and updated my cross references do not update. For example, in the document "see below on page 27" should be up dated to "see below on page 29." What is interesting is that the hyper-link (select "27" and ctrl. click) will take you to page 29. However, this will be no use for the printed document, which, after all, is the most important document. The same is true for references to foot notes. (go to n. 25 should be go to n. 28 after updating, and ctrl. click will take you to n.28). This is really messed up as I have a several hundred page document to get ready for Friday which has a very large number of cross-references in it.     - Can't Open Word 2.0 Doc in Word 2003 Hi, I guess it's the little background Windows updates that foiled me. I use Word 2.0 as we built a C program that will convert our mainframe documents to Word books. I then combine my new piece into an existing book in Word 2003. But I was getting an error saying I'm not allowed to open the file. So I uninstalled Office 2003 and reinstalled it, and now I can open the files. The only problem is that now Outlook is freezing up on me and I am unable to open my e-mail. When I look at my version of Windows XP it says I am at SP2. Any suggestions of a better way to still access my Word 2.0 files? However, the Word merge is stopping at row 923 in the Excel spreadsheet. I
have a total of 966 rows in the spreadsheet.

Does anyone know the ROW limitation that Word will stop merging in Excel?

You may need to check your data source for consistency - Word can handle far more than 900 records. For example, I've run a
mailmerge with over 3,500 records, each of which had 10 fields.
