    - Accept Changes Macro in Word Trips Security Setting When I use the "Accept Changes" or "Accept All Changes" in word documents w/ tracked changes, I get an error message telling me that my security settings are too high to use this macro. This began happening w/ SP2!! Any suggestions? I've gone through all of Microsoft's suggested fixes (like lowering my security settings) to no avail.     - paste rows in word table: badl alignment hi, recently when I drag and drop rows in a Word table, the dropped row does not align correctly. Same thing if I cut and paste the row. As a workaround, I can insert a blank row, then cut and paste just the text. Anyone know of a fix to this or why I never had the problem until recently?     - How do I get my customized toolbars to be saved in word? I was recently changed to WindowsXP with Office 2003. Previously, I've always been able to customize my toolbars in all the office programs, including Word. Now, when I add/delete buttons from the toolbars in Word & then closed the application & reopen it, none of my additions/deletions are shown.     - Is anyone experiencing a problem with footnotes converting? Example. I create a brief using Word 2000. Our firm has now upgraded to Windows XP and Word 2003. I open the brief in 2003.     - Visual C++ Runtime Error When using Word, it starts and you can type Ok. after a few minutes a box pops up showing the title "Visual C++ Runtime error" with "an error has occured in winword.exe" with an OK button. the OK button closes word and all data is lost. It did this in Word 2000, we reinstalled and it seemed OK for a while. When we upgrade to Office 2003, we had the same error.     - How do I prevent the font from changing after I hit "enter"? I have a field code prompt in the spot I want my addresses to show up in my Word Document. When I type in the street and hit "enter" (so I can type in the city, state, zip) the font changes from All Caps/Ariel (which is my default font) to Lower Case/Garmond.     - backspace mysteriously broken With a range of text selected, applying the backspace key fails to delete its content. Rather, it simply moves the cursor to the starting position in the range. Similarly, selecting a range and attempting to overwrite results in prepending each new character typed to the selected range (not overwriting the selection).     - linked Excel files in Word: printout shows wrong files Hello, We've encountered a problem when printing out Word documents that have numerous linked Excel files. A linked Excel file may appear to be pulled in correctly onscreen, but in the actual printout, a different file shows up in its place. The same problem carries forward when we print out a PDF of the Word file. The linked file in question is often one that is linked to other Word files, which likely complicates matters.     - Word should work in landscape on a custom paper size When a custom paper size is created in Word it does not seem to work properly in landscape mode. It forces either the left or right margin to be large. As an example I tried to make a custom paper size 8.75" wide and 5.75 " high and print in landscape mode. Each time I attempted this Word insisted one of the margins was outside the printable area and forced the right margin to 3.35". If I chose to ignore it, it would let me make the edits but only print to its percieved right margin.     - Document Map and Reviewing Pane aren't displayed simultanously I have the Document Map visible on the left side of the main window. If I make a selection in the document and click on Insert -> Comment the Document Map gets hidden and the Reviewing Pane appears. So far so good. However, after inserting the comment, I want to get back to my previous view. If have different possibilities, e.g.: 1. Resize the Reviewing Pane until it disappears 2. Click on the Reviewing Pane button in the Reviewing Toolbar 3. Select View -> Document Map All of them display the document map, select the first entry in the Document Map and jump to this, which is normally the beginning of the document.     - frames insert thousands of blank pages Having terrible trouble with inserted text boxes. When I insert 2 text boxes on adjacent pages word (word 2002 10.2627.2625) inserts over 10 000 blank pages (i stoped it from repagenting at 10k). I get this error even when the text boxes are completely empty. If the text boxes are separated by more than one page, no problem, if they are not, sometimes word inserts thousands of blank pages. Tried many of the text box options with no joy. Word is doing this on its own, there is no VBA modules etc in this document. If i convert the text boxes to frames, its seem to be a reasoanble work around. (took me hours to figure that out of course) However this seems a scrappy workaround for commercial software, does anyone know what the problem is here? My guess is word is trying to put both text boxes on the same page (in some fashion), but they wont fit, and so it keep increasing the page number in the hope of finding a page they will fit on.....     - Opening word 95 documents in word 2000 I am having problems opening word 95 documents in word 2000. Whenever I open a document created in word 95 it hangs for about 5 mins and then opens.     - Can not seem to find away to turn off email tool bar in some Word I have found two different client machines that have what would look like the email sendto, carbon copy, blind carbon copy and subject fill in boxes at the top of the Word application that I can not seem to find away to get rid of. I have right clicked on the blank area of the tool bar to see what tool bars are active but I find that the email tool bar is NOT active. I have also tried to go into the customizing of the app and still could not find a way to get rid of it for my clients.     - Word repaginates continuously Since late this afternoon, my Word software has developed a problem whereby it continually repaginates some of my documents (not all, just some). I have observed the problem in documents derived from three different template files (none of them Normal.dot), and the problem is in multiple documents, not just in one or two. In the documents that show the problem, if I switch to Normal View (I usually work in Page Layout View), the page number shows correctly initially, and then changes to say "Page 0 Sec 1 1/1", as if the document was on both page 0 and page 1 of 1. Other symptoms: - When I first load one of the offending documents, it initially shows I'm on page 1 of 2 (these are documents with multiple pages, mostly in the hundreds), and remains like that. - If I Page Down, the page count begins to go up, as if Word is repaginating - After a few seconds, the page counting re-starts - It then begins to repaginate rapidly, showing "Word is repaginating x.doc, page n. Press Esc to cancel." (I do not normally get this message while repagination is occurring). - The only template file that has changed today is Normal.dot. None of the other templates from which these documents are derived have changed recently (going by their Modified dates). I have tried: - Deleting Normal.dot and making Word re-create it - Restoring Normal.dot from a backup copy from yesterday evening (before the problem manifested itself) - Repairing my Office installation I have found articles about troubleshooting damaged Word documents, but I am not yet convinced that this is my problem, given all of the above (I hadn't even touched some of these files today until AFTER I first observed the problem). I have good anti-virus software (Command AntiVirus), and have scanned both my templates and the documents showing the error, and have found no infections (in any case, I am not in the habit of opening attachments in odd-looking emails). Can anyone suggest other possible causes of these symptoms? Is there any software I can use to verify corruption of a Word document? The procedures outlined in Article 826864 are a bit hit and miss, and that article doesn't even say what it means by instruction 1: "Look for similar behaviour in other documents". Okay, yes, I've looked and found it. WHAT DOES THAT MEAN??? Does it mean I DON'T have corruption or that I DO? I have not found similar behaviour in other software. Again, WHAT DOES THAT MEAN??? The article is a bit of a chocolate teapot in this respect. I also don't have an "Open and Repair" option on my Open dialog box, so the first suggested remedy doesn't even look possible.     - Saving existing document results in .tmp filename Hi, When an existing Word 2003 document is opened, editied and then the user clicks on "Save" Word will rename the file to one of those "wrlxxxx.tmp" filenames, and save it to a temp folder. I know Word does this in the background automatically, but it is getting hung up somewhere. The user has to remember to click on "Save As" and manually re-enter the proper file name each time.     - Word shuts down and gives error code when deleting in dual screen I am using a Compaq notebook and have the secondary monitor contected to form and extened screen. I open Ms Word 2003 and launch a document on both the extended monitor(2) and the laptop monitor(1). I then go and highlight the section I want to delete on the extended monitor(2) as soon as I highlight and hit delete the program freezes. I then receive an error message stating "Word has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for any inconvienience". It is at this point Word closes my documents and then restarts and shows them as being recovered. ****Attempted fixes****** (1)So far I have tried a seperate secondary monitor and it had the same error.     - Word 2003 crashing some other W2K applications Hi, So I've just repaired my installation of WIN 2K, and reinstalled Office 2003 and done all of the windows updates that are available. Then run resistry firstaid to clean things up. Now when I open windows it keeps asking about a macro problem with pdfmaker.dot. So I disable the macros. Shouldn't Word be looking for the normal.dot file instead of this pdfmaker.dot?? So in trying to delete all normal.dot files so that word will create a new one when it opens I start My Computer. When I attempt to search for the normal.dot file... or anything at all I get an error: Office Pro comes up saying it needs to configure Office 2003 and it begins to configure something. Then I get a Program Error that tells me explorer.exe has generated errors and will be closed by Windows. And it creates an error log. My Computer then closes as do all of my applications running in the task bar in the lower right corner except for McAfee security center. Why is all of this happening?     - Word open as Document Imaging I used Microsoft Office Document Imaging to edit a picture and since then all word docs have been trying to open with this softaware.     - Blank Documents I have a user that seems to posses the unique skill of being able to erase documents just by opening them. Any one ever heard of anything like this? Got any suggestions? Can't find anything wrong. Sometimes, when she opens a document, weither she makes changes or not, and closes, when she goes back in the document is blank.     - right indentation problem on program opening every time i start Word, the screen looks fine, but when i start typing the wording will not go to the right margin. it will always stop about 10 characters to the left of the margin and then go to the next line. nothing centres properly and if i were to justify everything to the right, the space would be greater than if it was justified on the left. i think it is a problem with the program, but if anyone has exoerienced this, please tell me how to fix it...     - paAttach error in Word My initial installation of Office 2003 was fine but then while setting up my signature in Outlook I ended up getting an error within Word. When I want to send or just open Outlook I get "paAttach is not a valid macro or command name" then I get "paInsert" and finally "paAbout" iwth the same warning. It will then finally open but sometimes I get a Normal document error. I have resintalled and tried to repair Word but dont' want to uninstall and resinstall all of Office.     - Saving Word file A user here is using Office XP. Saving a file from the Word program results in the saved document with a "generic" Windows icon. She can reopen the file but other user's can't. Using Explorer and viewing the file types, files with a .doc extension are associated with the "generic" Windows icon. Deleting this file extension and recreating it results in the "generic" icon being recreated for the .doc extension. How can I reassociate the .doc extension with the correct (Word) icon?     - Opening Word crashes every time Using office XP, word worked fine, now just started to crash every time we try to open it. reads: Word failed to start correctly last time...etc. asks to start in safe mode.     - picture - now you see it/now you don't I have a template which I copied over from Word97 to Word2002 which includes a picture. In Word97, I never had any problems - the picture always came up on the screen and always printed. However, in Word2002, sometimes the picture doesn't print and sometimes it doesn't appear on the screen except as a frame with a small box with a cross - if I right click inside the frame and chose edit picture, the picture appears.     - Word locks up when replying to Yahoo emails Hi all, Not sure if this is "off-topic." If so please let me know if there is a more appropriate group. We (my wife and I) are having a problem when replying to emails sent to us from anyone using Yahoo. We are using XP professional, Outlook 2000 with Word as our email editor. When we reply to an email, Outlook will hang. I can only get control back by ending the Word "process" under "task manager" even though there isn't a Word application running. I can "turn off" Word as the email editor and there is no problem.That is why I believe that there is something going on with Word...I may be wrong. Any help would be greatly apprecitated. PC in a non-networked environment. My Word 2002 has the SP3 patch. I have a
large Word document with embedded hyperlinks to Websites and generated TOC
and List of Tables. All refrence links have ceased to work. I cannot find
any help in Microsoft Suppport. Any ideas, anyone?
