    - Text Box Problem in Microsoft Word 2003 I recently upgraded to Office 2003. The other day I had a strange problem every time I tried to insert a text box in a document. I clicked "Insert", "Textbox". I expected, as in previous versions, to see the cross-hair pointers, with which I could manually draw in a text box. Instead, A very large full-page box appeared on the screen, pushing my document to the next page, with toolbars for drawing, etc. This happened several times, although I had definitely clicked on "Insert Text Box". I clicked "cancel", when I saw that, which brought me back to my document, and usually, lo and behold, after clicking "cancel", the cross-hair pointer was there with which I could draw a text box. What was going on? Why this strange result from the command "Insert Text Box"? ----------------------- While I'm at it, an unrelated question regarding text boxes (all versions of Word). The default text box has lines around it, which can be changed in "Text Box Properties" (the type of line can be changed, or it can be changed to "No Line"). My question is: Is there a way to change the default text box to "no line"? (So that text boxes by default will not have a line around it, although of course it could be changed individually in "Text Box Properties"?)     - Open Word 2003 error Code Execution has been interrupted I get an error message whenever I open Word 2003. It says Code Execution has been interrupted and gives me the choices of Continue End Help. I have tried all and it comes up every time I open. The Debug option is not available. How can I fix this and what caused the problem? Does anyone know? I have tried a fix and detect (or whatever it is) and that doesn't help.     - cannot download files Every time I turn on my computer, and subsequently, Microsoft Word, I get a message from Windows Installer that it is preparing to install files. However, nothing is ever installed. There is always a message that says that windows was unable to install.     - Lost Insert menu items I'm using Word 2002 on Windows XP. I was adding an em dash to a document, using the Insert/Symbol/Special Characters menu. I noticed that you could also add an em dash by typing (I think) Control + Alt + - [hyphen]. So I tried that, and my little pointer turned into a fat black dash. When I clicked the appropriate spot in the text to add the em dash, nothing happened. So I moved the dash/pointer up to the Insert drop down menu and clicked on Symbol--which then disappeared from the menu entirely. The dash has become a pointer again (somehow), but I cannot resurrect the Symbol entry on the Insert menu. I reinstalled Word from the CD, and that didn't work, so I uninstalled Word entirely and reinstalled it again, and that still didn't work.     - Word 97 problem My wife's computer running Win 98SE and Word 97 has developed a problem following a less than competent shut-down. On booting up a box entitled 'I/O Monitor Initialise Error' containing the message 'Missing virus pattern file' appears. Word loads OK, but some files will not open; the 'illegal operation' message appears; and the program shuts down. In one or two cases the program refuses to open the file on the grounds that it has no proper 'doc' suffix - which it has. All these files open OK in Wordpad and Notepad, or in the Word 2000 program on my machine. I have re-installed Word 97 and installed an AVG virus checker, but to no avail.     - Can't see inserted picture When I attempt to Insert a picture into a Word document I see nothing except handles and thin black border. In the past the photo was inserted into the Word document. When I right click inside the area where the picture should be, a drop down box appears that allows me to open a picture object. When I do this I see the picture. When I click on close picture I return to the original document and all I see is what I saw before. When I am in "open picture object" screen and right click on the picture and select copy, I can go to my original Word document and paste the photo there.     - heading style defaults I read somewhere that if I tried to delete an in-built heading style, I couldn't and that Word would simply reset it to the heading's default. --- I can't figure out how to 'try to delete' a heading style Going back to the heading's default would suit me perfectly. When editing a paper for someone from Korea, I introduced heading styles so that I could make a Table of Contents, and saved the modified heading styles to the template. Later I realized that the heading styles I was working on (from a Korean computer, typing in English) were based on Normal style which included Korean - so that the heading styles on my computer now include Korean (although they are based on MY Normal style which uses US English as the default). It works, but I would like to remove the Korean language residue. I have tried looking into the language part of modify, but I can't see that there is anything there to work with to delete something - only to add a language (I can see that I need to learn advanced templates - but right now, I just want to get things back to where they were.)     - Macros-enable or disable Every time I turn on Word 2002 there is a message to enable or disable a Macro-I have tried to follow the instructions because I think it has something to do with a Certificate, but nothing works. The macro that is showing up is c:\program files\microsoft office\office 10 \startup\LEXlink.dot. This obviously has something to do with a LEXIS program I installed, and I am really not sure if I will need this macro.     - Hyperlinks won't format Hey guys, thanks in advance. Have Word 2000 and recently it hasn't been letting me format any hyperlinks. When I do type one in it looks like this {HYPERLINK "http://www.yahoo.com"}, without being blue or underlined, just the black text. The same problem happens when I try to copy/paste from a web page. All of the hyperlinks revert to text that look like the example above. I've gone through the tools -> autocorrect path and checked the format box and unchecked it and also reinstalled word, but nothing seems to help. Any suggestions. Now I get a little message on the left end of the Statue Bar that says "Delete Block No(Yes)"-- how do I get back to a simple one-step delete?? (It works OK in other programs, just not Word).     - Word documents frozen I have Microsoft Office XP Pro SE (2002) loaded on a Windows 2000 PC. I started experiencing problems with Word files freezing up, first intermittantly which progressed to every time I try to open a new or existing file. I can type one or two letters and then it freezes. If I do Control, Alt, Delete and cancel out of it, often it unfreezes and I can type another letter or two, but then it freezes again. I have tried all the fixes that I found listed but nothing helped, including uninstalling both Office and Windows and reinstalling. I then reformatted the hard drive and started fresh, hoping that if it was due to a corrupt Registry, then the problem would be fixed. But exactly the same thing is happening. I have spent so much time on this and I still can't use Word. Now I am wondering whether it is a compatability problem with other software. I have Adobe Acrobat 5, Symantec Antivirus Client, and the All-in-Wonder Radeon 8500DV installed. Has anyone heard of incompatibility issues with these products? I hope someone can help!     - Symbols in Equation Editor do not work Whenever I use Equation Editor, the =, + and - symbols appear correctly when I type, but when I close the Equation Editor box they are covered by strange black symbols, circles and other shapes. It also happens with symbols like alpha and beta. Sometimes symbols in normal text i.e. not in Equation Editor, do not show themselves correctly either, although =, + and - do. Equation Editor works fine in WordPad though. A friend said it may be due to my printer, which I am having problems with, as it may be unable to print the symbols and so they do not show up properly on screen. On an unrelated (probably?) note, my Word has a small faint "half open square" made up of two short lines with the point of the half square nearest to the text, in each corner of every page above/below and to the left/right of all the text. It evetually comes back with the diretory listing. If I have switched to another app while waiting, the directory listing window apears in the app I have switched to(Just the directory listing window not the entire Open Dialog).     - msword 2002 problem I hope you can help. Installed MSword2002. When I type my page it becomes black and the type is hidden due to the font color also being black. Anything I enter on the page is typed under this black screen. If I hit enter or pg down I see a full page of black as if the page has been selected or highlighted.     - MS 97 used with Athlon XP1700 (1.5GH) I used Word 97 OK on old 330MH processor. It worked fine. But my faster new processor is causing Word to overlook text data pasted in from an outside program. Case in point: I send Bible scriptures to the Word 97, using the paste command ^(v) from a 'side by side' running program. Sometimes the send 'appears' to have worked, but no scripture text appears in Word. Maybe another 'send or two' will cause it to be accepted. Also I call for a single spacing between scriptures. This spacing changes, sometimes one, maybe two spaces the next time. Also the text scroll speed gets out of hand, too fast! If you try to select text to highlight, when you hit the bottom of the screen, it goes into overdrive to the end of the text. CAN THE SCROLL SPEED BE SLOWED DOWN? Any solutions? I've tried to repair the installation, uninstall and reinstall, and tried to create new documents with no change in this problem. Please advise.     - Office 2003 - EVAL Hi everyone, I had installed the 30 day Eval copy of office 2003 for myself and the office manager here, to test it out. Everything was working fine for a couple of weeks, and then one morning, we both had latency issues opening up word and excel. I had uninstalled and then reinstalled, still the same problem. This happens whether we're opening an existing document, or if we open just the app and then open the file from there. This also happens whether it be a new doc created in 2003, or one that was created in XP and then opened in 2003. I have gone to http://word.mvps.org/FAQs/AppErrors/ProbsOpeningWord.htm but i am not sure if any of these solutions can help out with 2003. I am getting this error when trying to generate multiple documents. os: Windows 2003: Office: 2003 / Office XP
What will be the reason? If MS Word 2003 open with "/n" then it still keep open one document without error at a time. I want to keep my all documents open and continusly generate the new documents

The same macro works on other OS and Office

Hi Malik,

How are you creating the new documents? Are you using the "New"
command in the toolbar? Are you starting Word again?
