When clicking icon to insert an excel worksheet in a Word 2002 document the
following error appears "Microsoft Word can't start the application required
to open this object. An error occurred and this feature is no longer
functioning properly. Would you like to repair this feature now?'. The
problem does not get resolve after repair. Does somebody now how to correct
this problem?

If you are running Norton AntiVirus, disable its Office Plug-in.

My Norton Antivirus runs from a Server. I could not find any plug-ins
installed. Do you have any other suggestion?

You might check out this advice from Office MVP Beth Melton:

If Norton AV was installed at one time then the DLL for the Office
Plug-in could still be registered.

Search for : officeav.dll

If you find it then go to Start/Run and run the following command:

regsvr32 /u "<path>\officeav.dll"

Here is a KB article that provides a few additional details. It does
not include information on Norton CE but it will contain additional
details on the unregister command if you need them:
