Just recently upon opening the Word document I now see the following message; Opening this document will run the following SQL command SELECT * FROM P:\Quotes\Quote log.xls Data from your database will be placed in the document. Do you wish to continue? If I say Yes I then see the next message; This task is taking longer than expected do you wish to continue?     - scanned document My old computer quit on me earlier this year. Prior to this I printed a hard copy of my resume. After purchasing a new computer I used the all in one printer to scan my resume. Since then I used my word processor to create an "office xp word 2003" version of the scanned reume. However when I send the resume by attachment I get replies that their computer rejected my resume as a "virus threat." The latest reply said "Our firewall has removed and destroyed your resume and cover letter as it is in a format that can contain a self executing file.....Please send as a standard word (ie. .doc,.pdf,.wrd, .txt) file and not as a .lnk file". This puzzles me since my Computer clearly says I am attaching a "word" file.Can you explain this? Also : Related to the above problem I have learned that the scanned document cannot be edited (even if I save it under a different name). Can you explain why this happens?     - runtime error message when trying to open Word 2000 I keep getting the same message everytime I try to open Word 2000 : "can't move focus to the control ...     - Word 2003 crashes when setting language to Spanish and writing anything I have Win Xp Professional and Office 2003. When I have a document with the language set completely to Spanish or a blank document with language set to spanish and write something word closes immediately without any error message. With a document wwith the language set to any other language it works fine.     - Word XP 2002 Spell check questions. Hi all, My XP word act weird recently. When I open or create a new document, then I will do the spell check after I finish writing. The language setting will switch to Dutch after finish the whole process of spell check. The weird thing is even I go to Tools and set language back to English, and it will switch back to dutch by itself. When It swicth to Dutch, then the spell check wont' work on my writing in English. For example, If I type some words in wrong spelling, the spell check will not detect that at all. This bother me for long time, Can anyone has any suggestions?     - Groupwise and Send To Mail Recipient We have recently installed Groupwise 6.5 as our e-mail program. When we used Outlook we were able to Send To>Mail Recipient as an option. We are now unable to select that option. We can send Mail Recipient (As Attachment) but we really need to have the document in the e-mail not as an attachment and e-mail directly from Word.     - Horizontal ruler there, but unavailable Often in the middle of working with any document, the horizontal ruler becomes unusable. It's still there on the screen, but I can't use it for anything and it doesn't update when I click into different paragraphs. Often, in place of the ruler I see a portion of the screen from another application in its place. To reactivate the ruler, I have to minimize the document and restore. Or, if that doesn't work (which is quite often), I have to close the document (not necessarily Word itself) and then reopen. Any idea what may be causing this and how to stop it? Thanks for the help.     - Word 2000 fails to load I get this message on trying to open Word - whether from the Word icon on my Desktop or from an individual Word file in My Computer: "WINWORD.exe has generated errors and will be closed by Wondows. You will need to to restart the program." I've used Norton Utilities System Doctor - hasn't solved the problem. I've uninstalled and reinstalled Office Professional 2000 with Service Pack 3 but the problem remains. I don't have WinFax (which apparently can create a similar problem). I also tried deleting normal.dot - doesn't solve the problem. I've run Norton Antivirus. My system is clean according to NAV. Other programs in the MS Office suite load without problem.     - vbe6.dll error on exiting Word Hi When I close Word either by pressing the application close cross on the top right hand corner of the app or by pressing the key ALT-F4, a MS message is displayed prompting to save the file > click Yes. The result is a Winword.exe crash and the message is on the vbe6.dll file.     - MS Word - Indexing problem I don't know you folks and we don't know if you know the answer to this question, MS Word GURUS. It involves orphan index page numbers appearing in an MS Word index. We've tried to remove these entries and their corresponding XE tags, but the regenerated-updated index still picks up the old page numbers for the removed index item/entry and continues to display them in the "new" index. Is there a fix for this problem that perhaps involves a hidden file such as a concordance file? Does Word generate a hidden standard index file that contains a 2-column table for index entries and corresponding page numbers? If so, where is it so we can KILL it!     - Word opens Reviewing toolbar when I open someone else's document Problem: I normally like to have only the standard and formatting toolbars open. If I open something written by someone else, the reviewing toolbar shows up. I can't find a way to prevent this behavior. Any ideas?     - Word 2003 Freezes I have Windows XP Orifessional and Office 2003 Professional, and Norton Antivirus 2004. When I work on a document in WORD 2003 and it's on a floppy disk, and I close the docment and remove the disk. and then go to file/ open to open up a document that's on the C drive.. the coumpter spins the A drive and keeps on spinning it and keeps clacking. I try to shut down WORD, but it won't close. Then I do the end task (It says Word is not responding) and it still won't close and the A drive keeps clacking and spinning. I have to shut down the whole computer in order to get it to stop. It never did this before. A window used to come up to tell me that there was no disk in the a drive, and now it doesn't come up at all. All it does is look for a disk and spin and make noise. I tried to do the repair and detect in WORD and that didn't help. Should I uninstall Office 2003 professional and reinstall it? This all started when my son was working on a Word document and he closed it and did file/open and the open box came up and he changed his mind and removed the disk and clicked cancel.     - 2003 Cannot mail merge f/Outlook - unable to obtain list of table. I'm trying to do a mail merge from Word 2003 using Outlook 2003 contacts. I keep getting the message "unable to obtain list of tables from the data source" with no further explanation. I can't find any help as to what is wrong.     - Command cannot be performed because a dialog box is open After upgrading from Office 97 to Office 2003 I receive an error "Command cannot be performed because a dialog box is open" the first time I open a document by double clicking on it through explorer on a Win2k workstation (only happens the first time). Windows XP workstations do not produce this error message. In the background I can see where Word is asking for the username/Initials.     - Text Encoding ??? I am about two hours and five pages into a paper for school ad decide to save all the hard work. In the proscess of saving, office locks up. The eternal hourglass,... I have to "End Task" to get it to clear and close. The document "is" in the folder I was trying to save it to, however; it is a lighter color icon, as if it is still open somewhere? I double click on it to open it and it says, "Select the encoding that makes your document readable." There is a list of things to choose from, but they all seem to be different versions of boxes and squigles? Is this document retrievable, and if so, how do I go about it? Have you tried doing what the message suggests? Go to Word's Help and look
for "enable macros."
