After creating a document in word 2003 which includes a footer that contains
a name (LHS) page number (centre) and the date (RHS), when you click the
print icon the data in the footer sometimes becomes corrupted or it all moves
to the left.

This happens intermittantly. The computer iis running Windows XP SP2 and
Office 2003 SP2. The Printer is HP Laserjet 4250 with latest pcl6 driver.

Any ideas on what may be causing this ?

Thanks in advance

When you print, fields in the header and footer are updated (even if you
don't have "Update fields" checked on the Print tab of Tools | Options).
Presumably there is something wrong with your PAGE or DATE field or the
field (if any) used to provide the name. Perhaps cumulatively the data they
supply is too long for the line or is overrunning the tab stops?
