problems on my word 7.0
i'm very frustrated, i just bought this laptop with
windows xp and word 7.o installed, i'm trying to write a
book, but everytime i go on to a certain page i
get "error reporting" and when i either send or unsend it
errases my word document, or it disappears and reads
Works cannot open "c/document and settings/my
documents/bookidea.wps" the file maybe in use by another
applicaton(which one i try to find out.) the file format
may not support by any of the installed converters, or
the file may be corrupt.
Know i had to reinstall my harddrive, but if i'm writing
a novel i can't go on losing my work.. can anyone help me

Every time I open up Microsoft Word an old document keeps
automatically opening up. How can I get a blank document
to open up when I start word? I just installed office
2003 professional edition.

In Microsoft Word 2000 I get the following message when I
launch the application. "Word cannot open this document
template. C:\WINDOWS\...\STARTUP\toolbar.dot)"
1. Replaced the normal.dot template.
2. Have checked to make sure that the toolbar.dot is in
the startup folder in MS Word.

Scanning and Service Pack 3
Prior to installing SP3, when a document was put into the
scanner a box would pop up with applications you wanted to
scan into. After 3 install, that box is empty. Removing
sp3 took care of the problem, but that is not an option.
Any help would be appreciated. We need the ability to scan

Word clears clipboard
Any time I launch Word, the clipboard is emptied. Once
Word is open, I can jump to other apps and copy from them
and paste into Word, but if I Copy first, then open Word,
whatever I copied is gone from the clipboard when Word

Word 2002 Hangs
Every time I try to open a word documtent over the network
Word locks up. I have tried numerous documents; I have
succesfully opened files in this share from another
computer. With the computer that is having problems I
have deleted the normal.dot, uninstalled and reinstalled
Office, stopped the print spooler, ran norton 2002
utilities, rebuilt the profile and it is up to service

re-installing word 97
hey, my computer lost microsoft word 97 somehow and now
all i have are wordpads. i have assisngment to do for uni
and i need word so how do i get it back? ive already
conducted searches all over my computer and its just not
there. i have a cd for it and i tried to re-install it but
it asked for a certificate of authenticity number which i
think i may have lost or never got one anyway. is there
any way on this website or any other that i can just
retrieve word without having to bring my computer to a
special shop coz thats what caused the priblem in the 1st
place and they keep it for ages. any help would be really
great.

opening Word document from a website into Word
I'm having a problem with opening a Word document from a
html page into Word, as the document is opening in quick
view plus.
I know that it isnt the html code that I've used as it
opens into Word on one machine, but in quick view on
another. so I'm guessing it is to do with the browser
settings on the second machine making any documents opened
online open into this specific program.
The problem is there are so many settings I have no idea
which it is, and whether this is really the problem.

word 97
Hello!
whenever I open word, the new document has pictures on it.
I have uninstalled and reinstalled and they are still
there. I have just done several types of virus scans and
nothing is picked up. Also the monitor is not holding the
right pixels, the screen is so big it can't all fit. I
have changed that and rebooted, but when it comes back up
it's the same thing. The mouse is also very slow, it drags
and catches all over.
I can't think of what to try next!

Word Opens Part Way Then Freezes My Computer
When I try to start my Word program it opens part way,
freezes, sometimes says this program has performed an

Microsoft Word 2000 SR-1 Error Message-Help!
I am using the subject word program and when I go to print
the document I get the following error:
hpfvls06 has caused an error in hpvls06.exe, hpfvls06 will
now close..........and I lose all my documents unless I
have saved them. Can someone please tell me how to fix
this error. It says to reboot your computer if you
continue to get this error........it don't work, believe

Problems printing envelopes and letters
Hi, I have a merge process that merges data into letters
with attached envelopes for each letter. When I try to
print the envelopes and letters at the same time, the
printer error on the Lexmark comes up with MP Load Feeder
Paper or something like that. This error occurs right
after it successfully prints the first envelope and right
before the letter that goes in the envelope. I have tried
various page setup settings, changing the default tray to
2 (where the form letter paper is), but nothing seems to
work. Does anyone have any ideas? Is it not possible to
print envelopes and letters at the same time?

When I try to do a "save as" on a document, the screen
locks up, the top and bottom of the screen flash on and
off, and nothing more can be done at that point. All
that is left to do is to do an end task.
None of my documents can be recopied by using "save as".

I can't open my Microsoft Word 2000 because it keeps
showing an error message. I send it, but it doesn't help.
No matter how many time I tried to open it, it never

Each time I try to open a Word document I get this
message. This file contains macros with an expired or
revoked signature. Since you are running under high
security level these macros will be disabled.
I am working in XP and when this message comes up there
is an orange band in the sytem tray flashing. Then I
click on it and it minimizes Word then I click on it
again and the Word document opens and the error message

Summary/Crash Data Found at End of Word Document
While editing a Word document, my computer crashed on me.
After recovery, I opened the document (originally 2 pages
long) and found there were 4 pages. The info at the
bottom of the document - starting a page 3, contained
information about the file (i.e. Type of font, document
summary information, MS Word Version). What causes this?

Word XP hangs on subdocument expansion
I've got a master document that I've been working on for
couple of years now, with some other members of my team.
It's been getting messier as time goes by, and this last
time I went to make some edits, I noticed that the
bullets were showing up as number lists, and a few other
formatting errors. Checking the formatting, I discovered
these paragraphs were just "Body Text" with secondary
styles, and by assigning a real "Style" to them, I could
fix the problem. So I started on this process. Every now
and then I'd get a "Word is running low on memory, you
will not be able to undo" or even a hang ("stops
responding"). But I could always recover.
Now I'm totally jammed up.
Whenever I attempt to expand the sub-documents, the
application hangs and will not respond. Every time. I've
tried turning off spell-checking. I've tried
the "winword /a" option. I'm not using Speech recognition.
Here's the weird bit. I can take the collectiono fsubdocs
and the master doc to another computer and it'll open
just fine.
There must be a setting or preference on my computer
that's causing the problem. Any suggestions?

We are running Office 97 on Windows 2000 SP 4. When
hitting F1 to get the Office Assistant - getting a message
that "cannot accept question at this time" please
reinstall. Office Assistant works in all the other Office
97 Programs. Have uinstalled and reinstalled Word, but no

I have a problem in an application that uses microsoft word 2003 under
windows XP and documentum (as database).Once you install this
application on the machine it stores templates (styles) on the machine
and Whenever user creates a new document using template he/she can run
validation (against styles stores in template).This works fine in WIN
2000.
On the XP machine whenever I am doing validating the document against
some existing templates that are stored as .dot files Application pops
up a message saying do you want save the changes to the templates.dot
file. Does anyone has any idea what's going on.
It's working fine for Windows 2000.

hi all , everytime i open a new document in word, after right clicking on
the page, there is something in the clipboard, its a small icon of a phone,
ive tried renaming and replacing the normal.dot file but when it replaces it

Office XP Installer error
Office XP is installed on Windows 2000 Pro. When running with administrator
rights, all is well. If a regular user tries to run an Office application
they get Windows Installer which wants the CD. After inserting the CD, the
system never tries to access it and gives an error 1706. BTW, this is on a
laptop, and the problem seems to have started after an incident where the
laptop went in to hibernation and refused to wake up. The battery was pulled
to get it to respond again. Office has been removed and reinstalled with no
change. Anyone have an idea to fix this?

word 2003 with XP OS......cannot open files
I installed Office 2003 Professional on my XP machine. All
of the applications work perfectly on my username, but
when I switch users no apps will open files. The
message "The File _____ is not available" appears. Oddly,
documents can be created and saved, but cannot be re-
opened.
I was focusing on the new software as the culprit, but I
wonder if this is an OS problem. Any ideas on how to get
my fancy new Office Suite to work for all users on this XP

Equation Editor Fails (Word 97 SR-2)
Every time I try to use the equation editor in Word 97
(SR-2) it fails as soon as I type anything from the keyboard.
I have not used the editor for a long time, and it used to
work fine. A Knowledge base article said running Adobe
print stuff would cause trouble but that the SR-1 patch
would fix that. Since I am running SR-2, I'm not sure what
wrong.

Word not deleting temp files
I've seen this question asked, but have no seen a solution.
I have a user runinng Win98SE and the Works Suite 2002. Word is not
deleting temporary files it creates, so she's seeing ~$ type files in
her directory.
It's a simple Win98SE setup, there's no server with permissions
involved or anything.
Any idea on a fix for this?

Fonts
The font on the screen doesn't match the printed (It print
it outline instead of normal) when I try to print from my
document. But , in the same time, printing from Exel is
O.K..
I have checked all in my comuter so everything seems O.K.
but when I put any word document on my other computer he
show me that I'm using outline font.

WINWORD.EXE- Application Error
Hi All,
Has anybody received this error message when opening a
document in Word 2000?
Error Message
"The instruction at "0x650f5aa5" referenced memory
at "0x0000003e". The memory could not be "read"
It then asks me to terminate or debug. Both options close
the application.
Any assistance on how to correct this problem would be

I have downloaded patch from web and I ran the software.
Norton Anti Virus still gives an error message stating its

Word 2000: Document name or path invalid? - No it's not
I've got a couple of doc files that will open in Word 97
on Windows 98 and Word XP on Windows XP, but not Word
2000 on 98.
The 'document or path is invalid' error appears, but
there's nothing wrong with the paths or names, and the
files are not using mail merge or HTML, which can also
cause this error. The file has been passed around and
edited by multiple users, but I'm surprised it's 2000
that's having problems and not 97.
By resaving it as a rtf I managed to get them open on the
2000 machine, but I need to know why this occurred so
that it may be prevented in the future.

Word 2000 closes immediately on opening
On double clicking the icon, word2000 opens the blank
document but immediately closes after that. even if any
doc file is double-clicked, the file opens but shuts down
soon after.
have tried the following:
1. run the 'repair office' option from the cdrom
2. removed the entire msoffice2000 application from the pc.
3. re-installed word and excel 2000 into a new folder
instead of the default .
Still the same symptoms. The pc is a P4-with windows98se.
have approached microsoft tech support. they have yet to
come up with a solution.
Can anyone please guide me how to come out of this
situation.

End User Licence AGreement
We are getting the End User LIcence Agreement appearing
every time Word/Excel etc is opened although the 'accept'
agreement button is clicked.
All installations have been correctly done, this problem
has just started to occur.

Windows XP acting scary
I will be typing and all of a sudden one of the toolbars
will open up, or one of the icons will open up, and I'm
not clicking on any of them. For example, "File",
or "Drawing", or "Fonts" will suddenly open up in the

Docs not opening when connected to network
Hi All.
I have a very strange problem with word docs not being
opened while the PC is connected to the network. If you
try and open the DOC while connected the machine appears
to hang. If you pull out the cable word will open the doc
almost immediatly.
Any ideas why this could be happening.
The problem is company wide on machines running WinXP and
Office 2k. The Win2k and Office 2k machines open the same
