OK, this is a weird problem I can't figure out. When I
highlight some text in a document to delete, and press
backspace, it won't delete, I can press the "delete" key
and it will. This only happens when the text is
highlighted, otherwise the backspace key will delete
letter by letter, but not whole words when I highlight
them.

Any ideas?

Check the box for "Typing replaces selection" on the Edit tab of Tools |
Options. Word considers Backspace "typing."
