    - Low on resources error message I use a Dell 8100 series and run Word 2000. Lately, every time I try and open my Word I won't open up and i have to "ctr.alt.delet" to clear it and then a error pops up and says my systme is "dangerously low on resources".     - Word 2002 I purchased a new Dell with Works Suite. Word 2002 was one of the components. It appears under "Programs" but when you try to open it, a box titled Windows Installer trys to install it but a message comes up "The patch package could not be opened, verify that the patch package exists and that you can access it, or contact the application vendor to verify that this is a valid windows installer patch package". I have tried to uninstall it but the same message comes up. I did find the message is is Windows Installer error 1635. I feel like a ping-pong ball going back and forth between Microsoft and Dell. Neither seem to have a desire to solve the problem only refer me to web sites that are not very helpful. I'm a novice at computers so if anyone can help with this problem, I'd be most appreciatiive.     - winword has caused an error in winword.exe This is the message I get whenever I do the following: File Open New and click on the only choice I have under the General Tab which is normal.old.     - Overstrike problem I tried to create an overstrike using the EQ field: EQ \o(.,°) but to no avail: whatever characters I use, I always get the first character followed by a comma and then the second character (in this case: .,°) ...     - Can't delete highlighted text using backspace key OK, this is a weird problem I can't figure out. When I highlight some text in a document to delete, and press backspace, it won't delete, I can press the "delete" key and it will. This only happens when the text is highlighted, otherwise the backspace key will delete letter by letter, but not whole words when I highlight them. Any ideas?     - Workgroup templates open slow in MSOXP Our workgroup templates open extremely slow in MS Office XP. They are about 600 files totaling over 40 megs. They are also broken up in 26 subdirectories. It gives you an hour glass for about 14 seconds before the templates come up. This slow 14 seconds is the same whether pointing to it by UNC or normal path. On the other hand, it pops up immediately when the directory is placed on the local computer and you point at it instead of a network path. I tried it on NTFS and FAT32 since I wanted to eliminate the indexing service possibly being the reason for improved speed. It just pops up in a blink real good. This is true of many brand new blank templates authored in MSOXP as well as our legacy templates authored in MSO95 & MSO97. All MSOXP service packs and hot fixes are up to date as well and it still has this issue Unless there is a fix I simply couldn't find, I think MSOXP has a definite problem here that needs to be addressed.     - Equation editor styles when multiple documents are open I use the equation editor in Word. Quite often I need to change the styles of parts of an equation. If I have only one document open then I can change styles in the equation editor quite happily. If, however, I have multiple documents open then the styles refuse to change. I know the Word is opening and closing, its just not
showing on the monitor. I keep most of my files on Word.

Also on my other computer, after a power failure the
computer came back on in the safe mode. How do I get in
back to windows?

Most likely it's opening offscreen. Open any other window, then right-click
on the Taskbar and choose Cascade. This should bring the Word window back in
view. Drag it to move and size it to your liking, then quit Word. When you
restart, the window should be where you left it.
