    - Works- Word 2002 drop down folder list on Open, Save As dialog On a PC with windows XP Home and MS Works - in Word 2002 I am having a problem with the "look in" and 'save as' control that is supposed to drop down the folder list - all other icons on the 'look in' 'save as' bar light up when the cursor is placed over them but the drop down does not respond - if selected get a 'not responding' message. I suspect the control has been overwritten by a non functioning version - do you know the identity of this control and how it can be replaced.     - Word 2000 ERRORS! In my word document, when I select a section of text to delete, it often deletes the rest of the document and add 1000 or more pages to the document???     - Equation Editor add-in view problem Just a few months ago, my Equation editor started acting up. I use it all the time (I teach math), so I know it was working fine when it was first installed. In fact, it worked great for years. And then... Now everything looks all screwed up. Fractions won't line up. Digits get cut off in the frame. I think the program WORKS fine (i.e. no errors when I run it), but nothing looks good. I took a screenshot, but I can't see any way to load it here.     - There is not enough memory or disk space to run the spelling checker error. "There is not enough memory or disk space to run the spelling checker". This error apears every time that I try to open up Word. I dont even get to type in anything. I have uninstalled Office 97 and even reinstalled it. I have also rebooted my computer several times. This all started when I had to use my recovery disk with windows 98. Then I went to install Office 97 (which I have been using for years and have never had any problems with it). Everything went fine until it came to use Word. I still cannot use it without it coming up with the above error. I have even tried to install it in different ways.     - File permission error while saving to network A user is getting a file permission error when saving some word docs to network drives. The docs are from a template, but he is the only user with the error. I checked permission on the folder he is saving to and he has permission to wrtie, read and modify in that folder. He is able to open a doc in the folder and edit, but when saving it says the file permission error. if he continues it converts the original file to a 1kb file which contains nothing and closes word. The autosave file is also gone at this point. If he says no to save, he can save to his local hard drive, then move it to the folder he tried the save to without any problem. It is almost as if he has full control in the folder, but the docs he only has read access to.     - nothing is working with Word I've spent the last several days reading through previous posts and trying everything that has been suggested-all to no avail. I've located and renamed Normal.dot; I've tried all the suggestions on the mvps link that has been posted. The only route I haven't tried is uninstalling the Works Add-In. When I go to Add/Remove and click to remove, it seems to try, then I get two error messages: the first says "setup is unable to register tasks" and after clicking "okay" (my only option), the second message says "fatal error during installation." I've tried uninstalling with the CD rather than through Add/Remove, but that doesn't work either. I've also tried to install over what's already there hoping it will put in whatever is missing.     - Erroroneous disk full error message in Word When using embetted excel sheets in Word, I frequently get a disk full error message when I attempt to save. I have plenty of hard drive space. The only work around I have found is to close the Word document (unsaved), and re-open the same document.     - Word Crash I had posted this problem yesterday to seek some advise but didn't receive any. This problem occured again today. Can someone help please? I'm using MS Word 2000 SP-1 on Windows XP Home. Say, I'm working in word and suddenly I need to perform another task - say open internet browser or launch another application, Word crashes without any notice.     - Getting a 1606 error Hello, I am getting an error when a customer is in word and wants to install the thesarus. I cant uninstall office or repair it for I keep getting this error.     - accessing newsgroups Hi All, I'm having trouble accesing the Newsgroups...I'm using IE 5.5...I can view the screen where all the messages are displayed and can also expand the message list. However when I click on a particular message no second window opens to display the message. Also I am unable to view any link/button that allows me to send a new message.     - Footer wraps after software update After updating to Word 2000 SP-3 (9.0.6926 SP-3) I find that footers that originally filled the width of the page (a single line of text from the left side without tabs) between margins wraps from one line to two lines. The documents are unaffected in an older version of Word 2000 (9.0.3821 SR-1) where they were originally formatted. Is there a formatting option within Word that might have been changed during the update to cause this problem or something else?     - Word crashes when using a specific template Hello Using Word XP SP-2 on Windows 2000 V5 SP-3. We have a problem with one of our templates, which none of us are able to figure out. The problem is that, when you go File/New and select that template, it immediately crashes Word with the helpful 'Word is closing, we're really sorry, please tell Microsoft' message box. There is no information on the error itself. I put a breakpoint in the code at the first line of the AutoNew module and tried to step through it but, upon running, it crashed before it even reached that point. Interestingly, the template can be used without any problems if you access it through Windows Explorer. This problem only occurs on some machines and is intermittent on some of the affected machines. I thought perhaps the template had become corrupt but the fact that it can be used via Explorer made me doubt that. Would anyone have any suggestions for a cause or solution?
