I have a lot of e-mails saved in folders I created in OE6. I'm think they're
bogging down my OE and causing it to lock up or run slow.

How do I save e-mails from OE 6 folders to my hard drive? I created a folder
in "My Documents" to save them there. That's works fine until I try to save
two e-mails with the same title (example: Re:). Then it asks if I want to
overright which I don't.

How can I move my e-mails and save all of the ones I want to? Any help is
appreciated.

Then you will need to re-name the one you don't want overwritten!

Go here http://www.mozilla.com/thunderbird and download and install
Thunderbird. When you first open it, it will ask if you want to import
your files from OE. T-Bird doesn't have a problem with size, has a real
time spell checker as you type and an excellent junk filter. OE,
affectionately known as Outhouse Distress, is no longer being supported
by Microsoft and I think you will find that Thunderbird is much better.
AND, to back it up, all you need to do is go to the Thunderbird folder
under C:\Documents and Settings\username\Application Data\Thunderbird
and copy everything there to a CD or external hard drive and if you ever
have to reinstall Windows, just nuke the default files there and replace
them with the back up. It will back up EVERYTHING except passwords,
including your accounts, mail and address book.

This is interesting. I'll look at it now. Thanks.

This question might be better asked in an OE newsgroup:

http://www.microsoft.com/communities/newsgroups/en-us/default.aspx?dg=microsoft.public.windows.inetexplorer.ie6_outlookexpress&cat=en_US_1b64e4af-9695-44b2-9a76-62233c0a5857&lang=en&cr=US

There may be a really easy way to do what you want and what I will suggest
is probably not it :-) You could create a new identity in OE, change its
store location to My Documents (or somewhere else--just get the files by
themselves to avoid confusion) and then import the message folders you want
from your main identity (presumes that is where they are stored). Ensure
everything is working correctly and then delete the messages (or folders)
from your main identity. When you want to review saved messages, you switch
to the new identity.

I think it even does the passwords. I don't have any trouble after a
reload getting those forms to auto fill.

Maybe you're right. It's been awhile since I've done it.
