Hi gurus

I have the following problems and I really hope that you gurus can help.
I was installing a new video card when suddenly the blue screen of D came
up, I put the original video card back and tried to restart the computer but
always the blue screen came up, I asked for help and this was done.

XP cd->repair->chkdsk /r->fixboot c:, this allowed me to boot the computer
all the way up and as you can imaging I was really happy, I could see all my
files and everything else( I know I promise backup will be done daily). well
while everything looked fine I start to have the following problems

1) I can not copy within my computer or outside.-> I right the mouse, click
on copy and then go to the folder or drive I want to paste and the paste
option is not present, if I drag and drop nothing happens.

2) Start->program->accessories->system tools->backup... this does not work,
nothing happens, nada comes up.

3) there are a bunch of service that dont start nor manually or automatically.
4) Does this by any changes has to do with Registry and if so, can I get one
of those registry fixer software to fix this.

It seems like everything is a mess and I dont know where to start looking.-
here is where you gurus comes in.
This is quiet a challange as it seems like the frea... machine has live on
its own.

Thanks, tahnks a bunch for any help I can get gurus!!!

try using a system restore
point via safemode.

and if that fails then
repair your system:

No, he means start the system in "Safe" mode (see Help) and run a "Restore"
(see Help).

ok,

as you may know safemode
is a mode where third party
programs and drivers are
not allowed to operate in.

so in this mode, you have
complete control with
windows and third party
programs, drivers and anything
else you may not be aware of
does not.

however it is also vulnerable
as well, so safemode should
only be used for diagnostics.

to access safemode:

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/315222

once at the desktop use the
system restore feature to
roll back your system to
a functional point in time.

then reboot and try using
your regular windows
again.

the repair process i mentioned
is a method that can replace
missing or corrupted system
files with the genuine ones
located on the windows cd.

therefore if restoring your
system via the system restore
feature still didn't help restore
functionality, then it is
likely due to missing or
corrupted system files at
the core of the windows
operating system.

keep in mind the differences
above regarding restoring
and repairing.

maybe the line wrap
is set for something
like 20

In Forte Agent you
can adjust that
number.

I see you're using
OE.
Is there no such
setting in OE?

Not only does OE have such a setting, but Moi is considerate and sets it
to a realistic number of words that allows for easier reading.

Database Ben, on the other hand, purposefully annoys mostly everyone
with his e.e. cummings-style posts.

Ahem! e. e cummings, despite his odd typography, was a very fine poet.
Databaseben, on the other hand, is no kind of poet at all. Nor are his
oddly formatted messages (which he always declines to explain) often
helpful to people.

LOL.
Actually, though, I think he said or implied something about being
handicapped.
He once said something about doing it for the reading handicapped, at least
as I vaguely recall. I don't remember the exact details now.

Well, as I just mentioned in my other post, I think he once said something
about doing it for the (reading) handicapped, and just left it at that.
And there was no further explanation given.

MOSTLY UNVALUABLE and UNPROFESSIONAL like KEN BLAKE by databaseben

databaseben
Mon Jul 21 08:08:09 PDT 2008

interestingly, because many
people who i generously
take the time to help with
their issues do find the time
to thank me and without
complaint.

further Blake, you are of no
value to me or others because
not only are you arrogant but
manipulative and regularly utilize
fear mongering to force others
to do as you say.

KEN BLAKE, MVP you
are no professional let
alone a "most" "valuable"
one.

you are at best a fat slob who
doesn't shave and sits around
looking for opportunities to
criticize and condemn others
who freely take the time to assist
without an ego to satisfy.

further your so called professional
experience is suspect because of
your mannerisms and the postings
you have provided, some of which
is simply bull and inaccurate.

but as the internet is such myths about
experience like yours is easily
manipulated as fact.

LET THIS BE THE LAST TIME
YOU PROVIDE YOUR TWO
CENTS and YOUR UNWARRANTED
CRITICISMS ABOUT ME.

Otherwise we can also add
jealously and envy to your
personality.

Lastly, if you have a professional
opinion about my postings then
take it up with the MVP administration
and tell them that the Microsoft
policies governing the newsgroup
need to be modified because of
my postings.

Your ego should not have a
problem with the above.
