Just as a test ?
...I repair installed my XP Home with home-made sp2 slipstreamed / from my
original MS xp homed cd, a while ago,
..then of course had to:-
http://windowssecrets.com/2007/09/27/03-Stealth-Windows-update-prevents-XP-repair
...(MS updates fail after repair install, until these libraries are
re-registered, ...I think?)
regsvr32 /s wuapi.dll
regsvr32 /s wuaueng1.dll
regsvr32 /s wuaueng.dll
regsvr32 /s wucltui.dll
regsvr32 /s wups2.dll
regsvr32 /s wups.dll
regsvr32 /s wuweb.dll
...which MS could have mentioned in,
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/917964 &
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/315341 ....well I couldn't see it anywhere
!!
...anyhooo, no difference, ! ...and as soon as you mentioned it, ...I
fancy that I do remember, a long time ago, seeing "4" little cpu graph
windows, i.e. two cpu's and two virtual cpu's in Task Manager | Performance
but, I can't be sure about that now.
Intel hyperthreading utility still reports 3 negatives.
...best get on and do Windows updates, ...wonder if kb896256 patch will make
any difference ...seems to be for solving ACPI power saving glitches, if
appropriate, on some machines !
regards, Richard
