Click Start, type regedit.exe and press ENTER
Navigate to the following branch:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE \ SOFTWARE \ Microsoft \ Windows \ CurrentVersion \=20
explorer \ Shell Icons
In the right pane, delete the value named "29"
Close Regedit.exe and restart Windows.

This happens if the "IsShortcut" registry value is missing in the file
association settings for shortcuts. Open a Command Prompt window =
(CMD.EXE)
and type the following command:
reg add HKCR\lnkfile /v IsShortcut /t REG_SZ
Press {ENTER}
Restart Windows.
