access violation messages?

I have been trying to "Google" this but don't understand what they say :-)
On my PC & laptop, I keep getting these messages & just did a format\clean
install on my laptop. It is usually 00000000 or 0000002D

"Access violation at address 00000000. Read of address 00000000

When I get this, all my desktop icons disappear for about 5 sec., I lose
some of my icons on the bottom right & have to re-boot to get them back.
Could anybody tell me what causes these & is there a need to worry :-)

In the case of a fresh clean install, this can indicate a bad or
inappropriate driver. Go back to the manufacturer's site and be sure you
have the correct drivers installed.

But I have no idea what "driver" is causing this on either machine. I guess
I need to go back & un-install everything but XP & start all over, huh? I
just wondered if these error messages are worth all the work that it will
take to remove all my "stuff" again. Like, what is the worst thing that can
happen if I chose to ignore them?

Check the system logs. Check and Update all the drivers, including basic
system chipset drivers.

It can be hard to figure out what is actually causing this kind of problem,
yes. Context can matter a lot - what is happening at the time the error
occurs?

If it's remotely related to or concurrent with use of IE, disable all
add-ons and see if that helps. If it does, turn them back on one at a time
till you identify the offender.
