Windows Update Note Pad

Have MCE2005 and sp3 update failed with a 0x80004005. Have the AMD Athlon
chip. Looking at notepad and searching for sp3 I find 4 "hit a transient
error" lists and job ended at that point. I'm a novice, but trying to learn,
and does anyone have an idea what that message means? Don't want to dig the
hole any deeper than I'm at now after reading of some of the problems users
are experiencing. It's obvious I need to copy the files I want to keep and I
suppose do a system restore before attempting further work.

But he was still using W98 then (didn't start using XP until January),
and wasn't here to mock anyone who wants to keep their system up to
date.
