Hi
I have XP on my PC and Microsoft Office Word 2003.
I save my word documents as 'Word Document' ...if these documents are
transferred to a Vista PC running whatever version of office is standard for
Vista are there any problem opening the Word 2003 documents ?
Seems a simple question to me but Googling for an answer I've never read so
much techno jargon and still not seen an answer I understand !!!

First there is no such thing as a "version of office [that] is
standard for Vista." Like all versions of Windows, Vista does not come
with any version of Office. Vista can run Word 2007, 2003, 2002, and
2000. It may even be able to run Word 97, but I'm not sure.

Sorry, I clicked send too fast and sent that before I added the last
line, answering your question. Your Word 2003 documents will be
readable on any version of Word that Vista can run.

Why ask here? What version of Office can open other versions of
Office files are better asked in a group with - wait for it - OFFICE
in the title. Notice THIS group lacks that.

Ask elsewhere

One of the wonderful features of Microsoft's Office suite is that later
versions have always been able to open files from earlier versions without
any problems. I have even found that Office is more compatible with third
party file formats than the third party applications are themselves.
