Restore Point - Need Help With Antivirus xp 2008 virus

I have the antivirus xp 2008. One microsoft discussion group suggested that
one easy way of getting rid of this monster is to go to system tools and
create a new system restore point and then restore the system. I tried to do
this but the only highlited system restore date for the month of august was
today's day at a time after my computer became infected. Is it possible to
set another resore point even though no other dates in august are highlited.
This virus is reaking disaster on my computer.

Either you misunderstood or the information was way off the mark. Here
is the proper way to remove Antivirus XP 2008:

Once your PC is clean, turn off System Restore, then turn it on again
(to clear out your old restore points).

System Restore is NOT going to help this problem (nor is downloading a tool
from the website of a known MVP imposter).

Run a /thorough/ check for hijackware, including posting your hijackthis log
to an appropriate forum.

After you system is considered 'clean' disable the System Restore cache,
reboot and then re-enable the System Restore cache to flush out malware
(possibly hiding) in the System Restore Cache. Create manually a restore
point after re-enabling the System Restore cache.

I would STRONGLY recommend posting your HijackThis log in an appropriate
forum for review by an expert in such matters. XP Antivirus 2008 very often
brings some "friends" along and MBAM may not detect and remove them.

I tried a few anti-malware applications and this malware kept
returning. As it turned out, it was easier to do a clean install. I
had run Spybot, Ad-Aware and Spysweeper and none of these prevented
nor removed "Anivirus XP 2008."
