I use XP Home Edition and have a dvd drive/burner installed. Recently I tried
to intall new software but when I insert the disc there appears to be no
setup.exe file to run. when I open with My Computer half the file are
invisable or not there. When I put the disc in another computer the setup.exe
and other files are on the disc. The files I can see have no extension and
are just labled system or file. The icons are just plain and the folder
hyperlink does not work on them. Any folders will open but no exe files are
visable. I can rip and burn CD's and DVD's and picture files work ok. I
replaced the DVD Drive with a different model and it still does the same
thing. Is there some setting that got changed or is this a virus or something.

Open an explorer window and go to Tools->Folder Options. Select the View
Tab. Select "Show hidden files and folders" and uncheck "Hide extensions for
known file types". Click OK out of there and see if that helps.
