I learned several months ago about this website after having issues wit
another MS Update. It only took a week or two for them to send out a fi
for the problem. But, what a pain.

I learned after that experience to come here prior to downloading an
updates from our trusty MS. It seems it is paying off once again.
will not
download SP 3 anytime soon until I here that it doesn't screw up m
computer. The reason is because I don't have hours and hours to spen
learning how to stay calm and muddle my way through the MS maze o
fixit articles. I have a job and a little bit of a life. Why woul
anyone who uses this forum make a major MS download without checkin
here first??

So, thanks forum

It's impossible to give any Windows PC user such a guarantee owing to the
fact that every PC is different: different hardware, different applications
and device drivers installed. It's for that reason even application-installs
and driver installs
may cause problems for some but not for others. Service Packs are no
different in this respect.

You are being totally unrealistic if you want a concrete assurance that SP3
won't cause you any problems. Any meaningful assurance would require that it
was tested on every possible combination of software and hardware -- an
impossible task.

Just make sure you follow the usual rules of disabling anthything which
might interfere with SP3 setup, as well as making backups of your data
beforehand (which you should always have anyway).

If you want a "straightjacket" computer which behaves more predictably, but
also has very limited software choice and upgrade options, get a mac.

Have you actually "looked" at all the problems this SP 3 pack i
causing?? You might do that before you pigeonhole me and my computer i
a "straightjacket"

You are right as Microsoft brings out all their software with bugs and you
have to wait week or two for them to fix bugs! Do not blame on the computers!
BLAME ON MICROSOFT and their sub-contractors, (subs are cheaper you do not
have to pay taxes on them)!
