Workarounds:
1. Boot into Safe Mode and rename INTELPMM.SYS to INTELPMM.OLD.
2. After booting into Safe Mode:
Start | Run | (copy/paste) sc config intelppm start= disabled | OK | Reboot
into normal (Windows) mode.
