Computer

XP Media Centre Edition 2005
Service Pack 3

Intel (R)
Pentium ® CPU 3.40GHz
3.41 GHZ, 2.00 GB of Ram

Windows Firewall
CA Antivirus

Once the system has been loaded the CPU usage may or may not read 50%. If
it does it brings my system to almost a standstill. Prior to SP3, I never
had any problem.

If the computer runs normally on boot up and I check for Microsoft/Windows
updates the same problem occurs

In the Windows Task Manager the Image Name is: svchost.exe. I have checked
for viruses and there were none. Checked with CA Antivirus and Windows Live
One Care.

I never had any problem before SP3.

Any suggestions?

Serge

Just an addition...

Checking for Microsoft latest updates took 32 minutes. After that my
computer returned to normal.
