    - Update for KB 947864 failing I'm builind a new XP PC for a new hire and I updated it to SP3 and then did a Windows Update. The last update that it found is a security update for IE7 based on KB 947864. I 've tried several times to install this update. Iused a domain admin logon and the administrator logon, but no success. It does not even give me an error, it just says it failed. When I went to the update history, the failed update was not even listed. I usually depend on that to determine what is wrong. Does anyone know of a incompatibility between this update and SP3? For the present I just hid the update, but that is less than desigable. any suggestions for how to approach the problem?     - SP3 boot failure I am getting a BSOD failure at boot time after installing XP SP3. I have tried it several times. I have followed the "troubleshooting sp3 failure" document (starting BITS, renaming the download folder to download.old, etc.) with no change. My OS is Windows XP MCE2005. My biggest problem is I can't tell what the failure is - the screen flashes the error message for about 25 milliseconds and then goes blank and reboots.     - SP3 setup error Hi, During installation of the SP3 update (manual update) I see the following error: "An Error occurred while copying file beethov9.wma. Cannot copy file to destination directory. Click Retry to retry operation Click cancel to..." I tried ignoring the error, but it comes up again during the install, and finally causes the installation to fail completely. I could see the file in the source directory; but I have no idea why it fails to copy to the destination. The destination path was not given, and there was no other info. PC is a dell XPS Generation 2, XP home sp2, with 2gbram, 30 gb free disk space. The account I was using has admin priveledges. Thanks for any help.     - WinSP3 BSOD, Endless Reboot After installing SP3, I have one workstation fail out of 5 with the BSoD of Stop C000139 on GDI32.dll Pressing F8 and picking "Disable auto restart on failure" showed me the error. I thought MS had worked for weeks to fix this error... apparently they didn't. This machine is a Dell 745 with an Intel chipset. All the post i read about this error was for Non-Intel based systems... apparently that is wrong too....     - WSUS Configuration: Don't save updates locally - Question about Space I have a WSUS server with disk space problems. It is saving locally the updates, but I've changed the configuration in order to not save locally the updates, telling my clients to download from Microsoft Update. I've noticed that WSUS doesn't delete the files saved in the disk (folder Wsuscontent)... ¿can I delete the content of folder Wsuscontent or can I make some trouble? I think the info needed from WSUS to work must be only in SQL Server from now, and the files that remain in folders can be deleted, doesn't it?     - Windows won't load after SP3 update I'm hoping someone can help. I can download and install the Service Pack 3, but when it reboots, it doesn't load correctly and the screen comes up where you can choose how to load Windows (safe, safe w/networking, last known good configuration, normally).     - Size of .ISO file Recently I updated four PC's with Windows XP SP3. Two are running language NL and two are running language EN-US. I used the from MicroSoft downloaded .EXE files without any problem. WindowsXP-KB93629-SP3-x86-NLD.exe size 313.157KB for the PC's using Dutch and WindowsXP-KB93629-SP3-x86-ENU.exe size 324.030KB for the two PC's using English. The size of the two language different files is quite close. Later I downloaded the .ISO files to create NL and EN SP3 CD's. xpsp3_5512.080413-2113_nl_x86fre_spdcd.iso size 377.870KB and xpsp3_5512.080413-2113_usa_x86fre_spdcd.iso size 557.932KB I wonder, why the big size difference between the ISO's??? On one of them the update for IE7 is listed as "high priority" in Windows Update, while on the other IE7 is listed as an "optional" update. Does anyone know why? And which SHOULD it be? Also.     - XP SP3 Problem I am having trouble with 2 PCs that once the XP SP3 update is finished, refuse to restart correctly. Both get the same errors. Its the BSOD with a stop error as follows: STOP: 0X0000008E (0X00000003, 0X80AB912C, 0XEF12198C, 0X00000000). Beginning of physical memory dump. I ask because I recall reading that SP3 for MCE is only available via Windows Update and the download I've found specifies "Supported Operating Systems: Windows XP Home Edition ; Windows XP Professional Edition ; Windows XP Service Pack 1; Windows XP Service Pack 2", i.e. not MCE.     - Windows XP Home edition SP3 update stops PC booting up I updated windows XP home last night with SP3 the update hung and I had to reboot after 2 hours. When it rebooted a blue screen flashed up and the PC rebooted. It just circles around in this loop. I tried safe mode but it did the same. I can't tell what the blue screen says as it flashes past too quickly. I then tried reinstalling windows, but get back to the same problem when I try to update to SP3. I can now boot into safe mode and restore to before the SP3 update. But if I leave windows in this condition it won't have any of the security updates.     - Does the SP2 CD image access the Internet during install? I have downloaded the SP3 CD image from the MS Download Centre and copied it to a CD. You recommend that during SP3 installation the anti-virus is disabled, in which case I would like to disconnect the machine from the Internet.     - Windows SP3 ddoes not recognize my OS's language. Downloaded the stand alone file for an update to SP3 in my Windows XP Media Center Edition computer but although I downloaded the right file (SP3, Swedish version), I keep getting the message that installation is not possible since the file and my OS have different languages.
