Windows Update disappears

Windows Update offered to update my computer to SP3. I accepted, and a box
came up saying it was getting ready to download. Then the box disappeared,
and there was no evidence of Windows update, and I still was at SP2. Does
anyone know what would cause this behaviour? Thanks.

3a. Check Windowsupdate.log (%windir%\Windowsupdate.log) for errors
associated with the download/install.

It'll probably come back at a later time. It may be that the server is only
allocating a certain amount each day and you're in line waiting for your turn.

"During periods of heavy download traffic, the Automatic Updates service can
reschedule download requests on a day-to-day basis. This rescheduling can
occur over several days."

Be patient.
