After the update took place, an error showed up 'Access Denied', then the
updates are backed-off. The next message says that all the updates weren't
taken off, and XP might have problems. This happened yesterday and today.
What's the problem? These updates take a couple of hours and I don't have my
machine. It has also slowed down considerably.

There is a knowledge base article which discusses this problem and what to
do about it. Perform the fixes before trying to install SP3. The problem
has been discussed lots and lots of times here.
You should search Help & Support for the string "Access Denied" for more
information. In fact, you should always search Help & Support before
posting here.
