    - Win XP Pro x64 and Microsoft Update, plz help... I am running the above OS and I have been able to do Updates until the other day. When I first select Microsoft Update, the URL shows v6, but everything hangs as it is waits to be scanned for Updates. Then the URL changes to Windows Update v4. Why is it changing from Microsoft Update v6 to Windows Update v4? When I select for it to Scan for Updates, I get a "Windows Update has encountered an error and cannot display the requested page", but without any error code. I have tried over and over, but the same thing happens. I am unable to do updates. Why is this happening and how to I fix this? Tag: Vista keeps installing update (KB936181) Tag: 250930

    - Vist Keeps Reinstalling the Same Update Every few days I get a notification that "Update for Windows Vista (KB947821) is available for installation. I've installed it three times.     - KB943729 - startup issue I ran MS Upgrade search & installed upgrade KB943729. Afterwards when I tried to restart the PC it gave me the option to go to SETUP or run setup through the network. It would not allow me to pick either <F2/del> or F8. Even when I tried to run XP in SAFE mode, it would get to select the operating system screen and wouldnâ??t allow me to hit enter. After a few time of restarting the PC, I was able to get XP up and running. The first time I did a restore back a few days from install & that didnâ??t help. The second time I backed out the upgrade through the control panel as the upgrade document recommended. Do you think that I might be able to restart my PC, after this weekend, without a problem.     - Windows Mobile 6.1 Update breaks sync Hi, I had an "optional update" to install Windows Mobile 6.1 and "Microsoft Corporation - Networking - Microsoft Windows Mobile Remote Adapter. " That was a mistake. First, it wouldn't sync. "ActivSync has a problem with the desktop." Then, it deleted all the contacts, tasks, files, etc. from my PPC-6800. I rebooted. I reset. I deleted the sync partnership and added it back. Then, the system reported "Pocket Quicken 2.5 needs attention". ? ? ? ? Could not find how or where it needed attention. So, I unchecked the "Quicken" sync block. Now, the sync center reports something like "mobile center encountered a problem with the desktop." What gives? I did a system restore about 3 days before this update . . . the "Microsoft Corporation - Networking - Microsoft Windows Mobile Remote Adapter" is still installed as an update . . . I thought System Restore was supposed to remove all that? Now, it seems to start to synch, and it just hangs. I thought if you had Windows update failures, you had free support? What do I do now?     - Non booting after SP1 install I have just installed Vista SP1. On re booting I can only get as far as the 'Welcome' screen, the screen then goes black with a white mouse pointer.     - KB943460 blocks shockwave player Using IE6 on Windows XP sp2, and adobe flash player and shockwave player. Once KB943460 was installed, .swf files wouldn't play anymore.     - Windows Update and SP1 SP1 would not appear for me in the Windows Update even though all hardware and software met MS' spec's for Vista. I did upgrade my sound card and software in order to meet spec's. I decided to download SP1 from MS download page to get the standalone version. After waiting a couple weeks and reading this and other NG's I decided to install SP1. It installed with out a hitch. I didn't need to un-hook USB devices as was recommended in these NG's and I didn't need to disconnect my UPS. Mater of fact SP1 recommends that you connect to a UPS so you won't lose power while installing. The only things I did disable where Windows Defender Fire walls and Virus autoscan protection.     - IE7, WindowsUpdate yields HTTP 400 Error New installation of MS WXP Pro with SP2, NIS 2008. The machine connects to the Internet, the IPConfig /All looks right, MS Messenger connects, as does e-mail. Yet IE7 yields an HTTP 400 error on every attempt to connect to a web page but the first one. Meaning - if I Reset IE7 in Internet Options I can connect to the Microsoft.com home page, but can NOT click on any link from there. I cannot at any time open WindowsUpdate nor MicrosoftUpdate. Other web pages fail too. All MS Updates were installed earlier this month, NIS 2008 appears to be updating fine and has the most current version of its updates - from the best that I can tell.     - Possible reason for SP1 not listed at Windows Update I posted earlier about not finding SP1 listed when I use Windows Update; I might now know why. I had gone through the eight reasons why SP1 might not be listed, and thought I had covered them all. I knew that the 'bad' Microsoft driver file ks.sys was listed in conjunction with a Logitech webcam, but, not having a Logitech webcam I figured that bit of info didn't apply to me. But yesterday when I was again trying to figure out why SP1 wasn't listed I did a system search, and sure enough ks.sys was there in the driver files. So maybe that is the whole reason. The article says that Microsoft will issue an update to correct the problem with ks.sys, and then SP1 will be available for those systems that presently have the 'bad' version. I've hesitated to simply delete ks.sys from my system, because I'm not sure what other programs or processes use it. Would deleting it likely cause other problems? Memory test 3. sfc /scannow 4. And the only answer I see in a half hour of Googling.     - Update to Sigma Tel Audio Codec Drivers for Vista sp1 I called microsoft yesterday asking what will be done via this problem for those who cannot get updated drivers for the Sigma Tel audio driver. The problem is Sigma no longer makes audio drivers and passed it off to another company who told me they are not making updated drivers at all for this type of audio codec. So how do you get updated drivers if you cannot? I have been on many forums via Dell and Gateway and thousand of customers have the same problem. First microsoft was giving advise to uninstall the driver and allow Vista to find its own drivers for this. Many did this and found they still had no sound. Microsoft also said to uninstall drivers, put sp1 on and then reput back the driver for sigman tel. Many who did this found after the sp1 install, when trying to put back the driver, Vista now came back with an error msg saying "This driver is not compatable for Vista" so they wound up again with no sound. Well after talking to the tech and he confirmed that this is what was being said- now when people call in they are telling them not do do anything and wait because microsoft is working on a solution to this. They say it will show up in Windows Update either a patch or fix for this problem.     - WSUS clients not registering Hi, Fresh install of Windows 2003 Server, installed and configured WSUS 3 with no issues. All updates are installed and the console looks fine. I setup a GPO to get clients to detect and report to server and then refreshed policy on a client. No clients are detecting in the console. THere is no firewall between the clients and the server. Vista keeps installing/asking me to install this update every day. I've
already installed it and it shows it was successful numerous times. Anyone
have any idea of what to do to make Vista recognize its installed and to quit
asking me to install it?
