    - windows media player hi ev'rybody!! right now windows warned me that there was a new update avaible for windows media player..my media player is 10 and it was going to become windows media player 11 but,okay,the update was first downloaded n then installed,i had the restart the pc to 'activate' 'em..etc....but when i was going to open windows media player now it said that microsft had to check if my windows is original or not..but my windows isn't original... so if i accept this,will microsoft keep sending me messages that i could have been victim of forgery???     - "Force" install update? Windows downloaded some updates, asked "Install Now or Later?" I chose later... now it keeps reminding at an inconvenient time. How can I chose to install the updates when I want if the little yellow shield isn't present in the task bar? It is on my wife's work PC and it pop's up "Install now..." when she is logged on to her work and can't install just then, but when it is a convenient time, there is no little yellow shield to click to install... where are the downloaded files stored? how can I install them when I want to, not when windows wants to? Is there someone who has this same problem? Can I remove the hotfix 946565 and 941672? 946565 can i remove from add/remove programs but 941672 can't be removed . The folder name and path is C:\WINDOWS\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v2.0.50727. The size is 26.6 MB. Will I automatically receive updates to .NET Framework 2.0 Solution Center through Windows Update or what should I do?     - Security Update Failure I was running XP Pro SP3 (the most recent release) and decided to go back to SP2. When I run Windows update it says that I need to install the following security updates (under SP3 all updates were installed): Security Update for Windows XP (KB946026) Security Update for Windows XP (KB943055) Security Update for Windows XP (KB941693) Security Update for Windows XP (KB945553) Security Update for Windows XP (KB948590) All of these updates fail. When I attempt to install these manually I get a splash screen Titled "KB946026 Setup Error" that says "Files from the package are incompatible with files on your system".     - Why wont my screen resolution go above 640 by 480 pixels? my screen resolution is 640 by 480 and I cant use my computer when it is like this. I also cant put my color quality above 16 bits. I tried useing everything in the troubleshooter but none of them worked. It changed to this when i was cleaning my hard drive off.     - Windows update replaces incorrect audio driver... Folks, When I installed Vista on my machine, the installation correctly identified my audio hardware as "Via AC 97" and installed the correct driver. The driver version is 6.0.6000.16386 (Provider: Microsoft. Dated: 6/21/06). Later, Windows update identifies this hardware as "Realtek AC 97" and installs an incorrect driver. This version is 6.0.1.6285 (Provider: Realtek. Dated: 3/25/08). Although the driver gets installed successfully, it fails to start with an error code 10. The workaround is to uninstall the audio driver and rescan the hardware. This brings back the old driver. I have set update settings to "Check for updates but let me choose when to install them." However, the shutdown button from the start menu still installs this update. There is also a "shutdown" menu item that does not install drivers. However, the box is used by the whole family and sometimes they just click on shutdown button to shut the machine. Questions: 1. Is there a way to disable download/install of this specific driver permanently? 2. A more general question. Is there a way to inform Windows update team of this issue? 3.     - Cannot Update in Windows Vista Okay, this is a three-fold problem. 1. Automatic Update keeps downloading and it says installing a security update for SQL Server 2005 Express every day. Has been ever since 3/9/08. However, you cannot uninstall the update because it does not show up in the list of installed updates. Automatic Update will not access any other updates unless and until this update is installed. 2. Using Windows Update, cannot do any updates, it won't even let you search for updates, because I get some error stating that I need to be logged into an admin account. But, my account is the only account on this machine and it is an admin account, with full access. 3. I can find the updates via Microsoft Download Center, and I can download them and save them. However, I cannot install them. I get an error message that says that an internal error occurred. Been to the MSKB so much my vision is blurring. Must have tried 200 MS recommended resolution to these problems, even though some of those recommended resolutions are for WinXP and not Vista. Nothing works. Okay, now, I have come to the conclusion that somehow, I need to either rebuild the registry, as the possibility is that the registry is corrupt. Or, I need to repair the Vista installation, which is possible with a retail Vista OS Disc. However, I have Vista OEM install that will not allow the repair option. The restore to factory option is not acceptable. The reason being that my business is dependent on this computer. Downloading and reinstalling the software that I use in my business would cost me probably $10,000 in manpower hours. Short form --- is there a method of deleting and rebuilding the registry? There used to be a way in Win98. Does it still exist? Long form --- purchase retail copy of Vista to use "repair" option.     - WGA validation failed Hello Win XP home When I go to download updates it says I need to install WGA validation tool. I click to install. Installation failed. I look at my history of updates and it has already been installed back in February and has a green tick. I do have one failed install for security update 920213 error message 0x8024200D. I have deleted unnecessary programs, run Disk Clean-up and Defragmenter, etc. I have noticed that when I run my Ad-aware and X-Soft Spyware that they both show 41+ processes running which seems like a lot but I don't know how to determine which, if any, I should eliminate. I first noticed this problem about a year ago when I renewed my Norton Anti-virus package. I have tried to get Norton to tell me if that is the cause but have not received a helpful answer from them despite numerous queries. So, I am seeking suggestions from a brighter person than me! (Until recently he has done so without problem but stared getting an error - unable to connect to this site 0x80072EE7) I am unable to establish from friend what may have happened just prior to this error appearing. In desperation he took his PC to PC World (UK) PC World connected to Windows Update (evidently without problem) & updated his PC. - cost him £29.99 - (gulp). When he returned home & tried to use Windows Update Site he got an - unable to connect - error - 0x80072EE7, so he took his PC back to PC World, who simply plugged in and connected successfully to Windows Update Site (before his very eyes). When he returned home and tried to use Windows Update Site he got the same - unable to connect - error 0x80072EE7. We are working our way through the online help we can find (unsuccessfully so far) to try to overcome this 'can't connect' problem, but, we are puzzled why PC World connect his PC to this site without problem, twice, yet when he returns home this becomes impossible. They used the link from above his 'Start' button, so it doesn't appear they were using a different site. We can't see a logical explanation, so, can anyone offer one please? "Windows could not update properly" "Reverting Changes"
2. Things wont automatically load when computer first turns on.[after I have
downloaded something.]
[ex. MSN wont load right away / Nod32 wont load right away]
Even It is on auto log in / auto protection when computer has started.
3. I thought it was just for one program that made everything not seeable
[except the sound] But when I loaded Minesweeper [It was on, but could not
see anything on that screen]
