After upgrading my Vista (ultimate version) to SP-1, I now notice a black
screen that momentarily flashes on shutdown.

It disappears too quickly for me to identify anything useful, but I see a
RED button at the bottom of some text as my monitor turns off.

Does anyone have any information as to what this screen might be?

I did put in an email request for help -- in the meantime, I discovered what
the screen is about ...

Vista's "Task Scheduler" !?

I took a peek at all the tasks completed, scheduled, running; ad naseum.
Man oh man, Vista is big and complicated. It's like cruising Los Angeles
without a roadmap.

More frustration with SP-1's (?) upgraded Task Scheduler :

All options are greyed out in Services panel (Administrative Tools). I
cannot Stop / Start / Auto-Manual this service.

Yes, I have all privileges and credit cards ( I checked by looking at other
Services items Properties). I did find a kludge registry work-around.
Nice, Microsoft. I have to regedit to some obscure key to enable/disable
Task Service.

Off to send another email to T-t-tech support.
