After repeated attempts for 6 weeks I could not get Windows Update to
download SP1 for me. I wrote this board which suggested I contact MS. MS
reviewed my system through Live Chat and determined I had corrupt files
suggesting I find someone with a Vista SP1 disc. I don't have the disc as
Vista came loaded on my HP computer, and I was informed the particular files
I needed were not loaded on the machine. I purchased Vista SP1 because I
don't know of anyone who has a disc. MS manually loaded the Vista SP1 for
me. I assume that MS correctly installed the system. I have McAfee
Security. I will add that the service technicians have been wonderful and
spent a lot of time on my problem. It just that my problems apparently are
not resolved.
I have put in four days of staying up until after midnight trying to fix
this thing and getting very little sleep; not to mentioned that I have spent
my entire day trying to resolve a number of conflicts. Now it looks as
though I'm back to receiving error codes that says I cannot download certain
files with Windows Update-the very first place that I started from. What's
worst is that Microsoft Office, while working on my computer, will not allow
me to download material from the website as it feels it isn't a validated
copy and some programs that I had working under the original Vista don't seem
to be working under the Vista SP1. Forgive me but I'm exceptionally crabby
at the moment.
Now I'm venting. :O)
