 - error code 80092004 i bought a brand new dell latitude d 630 , vista business 32 bit and anytime i try to update to SP1 at 13% give me back error 80092004. i tried to install the complete SP1 ( not true windows update) same error.  - Common problems preventing updates to XP SP 3 and Vista SP 1 I have experiencied both a failed XP Professional Service Pack 3 installation on my desktop system and a failed Vista Ultimate Service Pack 1 installation on my laptop. (And both failed because of Registry errors.) HMMMMMM! This begs the question: What is the same between these two machines? What program corrupted my registry on both systems?????? My common programs for both machines include: Adobe Creative Suite 3 Production Premium Microsoft Office Professional 2007 Logitech wireless mouse (and associated software) Canon Digital Camera and associated software I have since successfully installed the service pack updates on both systems...but the methods to do so were very different. And both required A LOT OF TIME. (Total...this has taken nearly FIVE FULL DAYS TO CORRECT.) Can you imagine a busines trying to do this???? When I tried to install Service Pack 3 on my XP system I kept getting an "Access Denied" error towards the end of the installation processes. Fortunately, I own Dell computers and the User Groups came to my rescure! A discussion group forum poster suggested that for my XP system, I use â??Dial-A-Fixâ??â?? wiki.lunarsoft.net/wiki/Dial-a-fix#Mirrors.2Fdownload_locations.2C_and_articles (copy and paste this into your browser) scroll down until you see Dial-a-fix v0.60.0.24 (2006-10-27) and click to download the fileâ?¦then run thingsâ?¦click on the tool icon and repair permissions, etc. (See: http://www.dellcommunity.com/supportforums/board/message?board.id=sw_winxp&thread.id=253012&view=by_date_ascending&page=4 ) I downloaded and ran this program and then tried the XP Service Pack 3 again. This time instead of â??access deniedâ??â?¦, IT INSTALLED LIKE A CHARM Unfortunately, there dosen't seem to be a registry repair program available for Vista yet. So I had to resort to a complete repair installation of the operating system (get ready if you have this problem, because the repair option takes about 3 hours to complete...and I have a fast computer!). The good news is that Service Pack 1 installed fine after I "upgraded"/repaired my system on my Vista computer. Because both of my computers experienced problems upgrading, I suspect software that I installed on both as the culprit. You can agree or disagree with meâ?¦but I strive to keep my computers up-to-date and free of any malwareâ?¦problems, etc. In the past, I have never had a problem installing a service pack from Microsoft/Windowsâ?¦so itâ??s curious why I endured a hellacious experience for both my XP Professional Service Pack 3 installation on my desktop system and my Vista Ultimate Service Pack 1 installation on my laptop. The common software on these machines is Adobe Creative Suite 3. I truly suspect something in the installation of this software corrupted my registry. As I look back, I have noted that I could never install another Windows Mail Junk Mail Filter update on my Vista machine after I installed this package. And, on both systems I've had Adobe updates fail to install (for reasons unknown)...Go Figure! I've never had a Windows update fail on my XP system, so I canâ??t date any failures here until the Service Pack â??Permission Deniedâ?? failure. Anywayâ?¦I want you to know that I finally have both of my home systems running properly with all updates installed. If anyone at Microsoft wants to follow up on other Adobe Creative Suite 3 users who may have experienced similar problemsâ?¦.feel free to do so. If Adobe isnâ??t the culpritâ?¦then other identical software on my two machines includes: Microsoft Office Professional 2007 iTunes ver. 7.6.2.9 (and several earlier versions of this software dating back to April, 2007 when I purchased my laptop.) plus, all of the software from a new Canon digital camera and I have a Logitech wireless mouse connect to each machine.  - Updates download but won't install ater starup Hi, I have a HP laptop with legal copy of Windows Vista Ultima which was set to download Windows updates automatically which it has done without problem for the past year, but starting a couple of months ago has been unable to install the updates after startup. Get no error code, only message is that the "Updates were unable to install. Reverting changes" or something like that, then computer restarts again, and get the Windows updates available, which after I ignore for a few hours would automatically download and try to restart computer and when I allowed the computer to restart, it would try to install the updates, but same thing happens again, over and over, no matter how many times it tries to install the updates. After more than a month of this, I got tired of getting the Windows updates available message and updates downloading automatically and the computer restarting with failed installation of updates, so I turned off automatic updates. But I have tried to install the Windows updates manually, but the same thing happens. Windows updates download and when the computer is restarted, it shows updates being installed, but after a couple of minutes it says updates were unable to install, reverting changes and computer restarts again with no updates. I have tried installing updates with the antivirus and firewall and all other programs, except internet, turned off, but still doesn't work. Has anyone been able to install the new Windows updates for Vista? Has anyone have the same problem and been able to solve it? Thanks to anyone that can help.  - SP2 will not install..says file ftp.exe is open or running... Bought son i-pod touch which requires SP2..install of SP2 stops and error message says "The file c:\windows\system32\ftp.exe is open or in use by another application. Close all other applications and then click retry."  - Problem Installing SP1 (Vista Home Prem) - Hangs on faze 3 I have received SP1 this morning via Windows Update. It started to install and asked to reboot to finish install. I went to lunch and after several hours is still doing this: Show a message in the screen Installing Service Pack: fase1 of 3 0% completed After more less a minute it says Shutting Down and reboots When it restarts it shows the above message again...  - zune download i can't seem to dowload the software from disk nor the website. when i do it from disk it gives me an "installation error" close all programs and restart computer an try again.  - Vista not updating, but no error message Hi all. I've searched for an answer to my question but haven't found one yet, so please forgive me if the answer is on the forum and I've missed it. Anyhoo, I'm using Vista Home Premium and have not been able to update since April. I try to search for updates and the update box just sits at 'searching'. I've tried manually installing updates - same thing, the windows installer doesn't do anything. I'm using Zone Alarm Pro as my firewall, and no amount of uninstalling/reinstalling of either it or my antivirus makes a difference. Does anyone know of a solution?  - KB50125 How do I inform MS that this update has messed up my extender experience w/ my xbox 360 elite. It has ruined my TV viewing experience, analog basic cable broadcast is shifted down on the screen.. It will not play wmv-hd 1080p files full screen (even though my tv and xbox 360 are set to 1080p via hdmi.) My television is a Westinghouse LVM37w1.  - Vista Error Code KB947562 I cannot download Vista updates. I keep getting an error code KB947562. Four days ago my problem was that I couldn't download Vista updates and was getting another error code. After spending countless hours on the phone with Microsoft, and having to purchase Vista (because of corrupt files), I now find myself back in the same position-except this time just about everything on my computer needs to be rebuilt.  - Automatic Updates for Windows XP Pro I have been getting pop ups all the time despite the op-up blocker being on. Eve time I go and change the pop-up stettings they resort back to allowing pop-ups. I have also been trying to get the automatic microsoft updates. Howevmy laptop keeps ting that the automatic updates is turned of. I have tried to reset this throught hcontrol panel. I change the settings to automatibut they switch back to off.  - How to find responses to my questions When I click on the link in my email to read the responses to my questions, all I get is a blank internet explorer page. How do I find the responses? If anyone responds here I won't get it so could it be sent to my email - jchadola@telus.net. I want to read what people said about 1) since installing a number of updates I get 2 internet explorer windows every time I click on the IE icon and 2) I get an error message when I try to get Microsoft Updates.  - Error Code 800F082F I can't seem to complete the installation of Vista SP1. I receive the same error message every time the PC attempts to install it. My PC is set to install updates automatically and the PC attempts to install SP1 each ang every time we power up and shut down .  - Windows security alert on XP Today I got a security alert telling me that firewall, automatic updates and Virus protection was turned off. I have never seen this warning before. I have managed to fix the firewall and virus protection by persuading Norton that it had been activated (it seems to have forgot) but I cannot fix the automatic updates. I have used services.msc but automatic updates refuses to change from disabled. I have followed the instructions to reinstall the automatic update service but this fails because the right program cannot be found.  - Update KB950126 caused loss of internet connection ability On June 20th Windows Auto Update installed KB950126 on my computer. After that I was not able to connect to the internet from my desk top unit. I have Comcast as my provider and I use a Linksys wireless router for my home network. All of my laptops could continue to connect to the internet, just the desktop was having the problem (the only computer the update was installed on). I figured that it had to be related to a resent install since I had no problems prior to this. I was able to find the list of Updates and found that KB950126 was the last to be installed. I was able to uninstall this update and was then able to reconnect to the internet. Yeah for me!!! I have a Gateway GT5432 bought at Costco with VISTA installed. I have kept Auto Update on until now.  - Cumulative Security Update for Internet Explorer 7 in Windows Vist Vista shows the IE remote exploit patch (Cumulative Security Update for Internet Explorer 7 in Windows Vista Ultimate (KB950759) Download size: 7.4 MB ). I can't install it for number of days. 1. Downloading manually intializes the patch but fails install. 2. Auto update fails with an error: "WindowsUpdate_800B0100" "WindowsUpdate_dt000" This is a serious security issue and needs to be treated more serious. It has not been fixed in days, I tried checking again for updates. In hopes Microsoft uploaded a fix to its own patch. We will soon have more compromised machines on the net.  - Calendar View after installing KB945432 After installing this update, the calendar view changed. If you have calendars in public folders you get the Displayname <calendarname> in public folders. If you are a Team Assistant and if you have more than 8 calenders parallel in your view, you wont see the calendar name anymore. After uninstalling KB945432 the view is as usual.  - Cannot install auto updates Did a new install of Windows XP SP2 managed to do update to SP3 successfully After that updates download successfully but can not install. One of these updates was IE 7. I downloaded IE7 seperately from the IE web page and it installed OK with no problems. On the next cycle of doing windows update it recognised that IE7 was now installed and removed it from the list however all the other updates are still sitting there and fails the installation without error code.  - Vista crash after sp1 - can't recover, can't repair, can't reinsta I have VISTA Home Premium OEM version (32bit), and it has been fine for over a year, with automatic updates installing without any problems. Yesterday Vista tried to install SP1 all by itself, and after the second reboot, it has killed Vista. It will start loading, then get halfway through the green backwards-and-forwards status bar with the black screen, then bluescreens out and reboots immediately. The blue screen is saying that windows had to shut down the pc to protect it from damage, or something like that. I have tried every option to get it to load (safe mode, etc), it boots up, goes through to 'windows failed to load due to newly installed hardware or software', then tells me to select safe mode or put in your vista disk and repair the installation. In safe mode the list of drivers stream down the screen, and it stops when it gets to c:\windows\system32\drivers\crcdisk.sys, the hd groans for a few seconds, then it reboots. When I put my windows disk in to try to repair it, it is supposed to ask me to select a language, then proceed, but I can't even get that far. It just dies at the same point. Next I downloaded a Vista_repair torrent recommended on a help site and tried to get it going with that. It dies at the same spot. Next I give up and decide to kill the windows directory and attempt a reinstall (my Vista disk won't even give me an option to reinstall on startup) so I create a bootcd to get to a dos prompt so I can rename or delete the windows directory (something I have done in past versions of OEM windows) but whenever I try to use DEL or REN, it errors out saying that it is an invalid directory. All the attributes seems to be read only, but if I try to change that, it errors with System error 1. This happens on any file in the HD. So I really don't know what to do next. My only option is to slave the hd to my other XP machine and try to kill the files from there. This is all a bit extreme for a Vista SP1 update! Obviously something has gone wrong with a driver, but I don't know how to fix it. Any suggestions? Download a pirate version of Vista that isn't OEM so as I can get the bloody thing to work?  - Windows XP Pro Update Fails Constantly Hi, I have been endlessly browsing the help forums everywhere, trying every single suggestion available, and to tell you the truth, I am completely burned out. Not to mention extremely frustrated and ready to throw this computer out the window along with my XP Pro CD that I paid over $300 for. I have been using this CD for years now, never had a problem until now. I just installed a Fresh copy of XP pro due to buying a new hard drive. Everything was fine, I called MS and Activated my Copy, all good, but I cannot download any windows updates. The plugins install, but then upon the first initial downloads, I get the error that they will not download. First is the Windows Genuine Advantage Validation Tool (KB892130), which I took care of by downloading that individually. Then came the Update for Windows XP (KB898461) (Installer thing) - But this one just will not install. - It keeps saying "File is corrupt", and will not install. I downloaded "WindowsInstaller-KB893803-v2-x86", but that gives me wierd errors also, during the install, it starts giving me dialogs boxes looking for locations, but can't find them, even though it's in the right place. So that wont install. I tried all the suggestions everywhere all over the net, but nothing will remedy the situation. I have in the past ran Windows Update right after a Fresh Install and Right After a Fresh Activation with absolutely No Problems at all.
