I don't think that it was necessary to use SR in safe mode but thanks for
the suggestion

Hi there,

It is necessary to do a system restore in safe mode since a lot is loaded in
normal mode and the chances of a succesful restore are nihil.

Best regards,
Michel Denie

EACH TIME I'VE DOWNLOADED SP3 MY COMPUTER WILL NOT RESTART WITHOUT GOING
INTO SYSTEM RESTORE. WHAT DO I NEED TO DO?

Hi there,

First of all put your caps lock off when typing.

What happens if you restart after installing Sp3, do you get a blue screen,
black screen or what?

Best regards,
Michel Denie

What anti-virus application is installed? Was it active when you installed
SP3?

Fix that stuck CapsLock key? (Posting in all caps is considered SHOUTING!)

Disable all real-time protections before installing SP3?

Opening a free support incident?...

Free unlimited installation and compatibility support is available for
Windows XP, but only for Service Pack 3 (SP3), until 14 Apr-09. Chat and

Were all Norton Add-ons disabled or uninstalled, too?

Many Norton Add-ons afford real-time protection, too.
