Start menu missing

Hi windows did update and then closed when it restarted all the stuff in
start menu were missing. i can click on all programmes and the list comes up
but all the other stuff is now missing, email internet games all the regular
things i use. can any one help me to get it all back.
i tried restore but no luck

This happened to me as well, I have windows Vista. Microsoft is aware of the
problem, contact them via their website and they'll email you a "hotfix"
link. I wish I could tell you it worked for me but reality is it didn't. I
have a Dell, and need to go through them. Please let me know if it works for
you. =)
