KB50125
How do I inform MS that this update has messed up my extender experience w/
my xbox 360 elite. It has ruined my TV viewing experience, analog basic cable
broadcast is shifted down on the screen.. It will not play wmv-hd 1080p files
full screen (even though my tv and xbox 360 are set to 1080p via hdmi.) My
television is a Westinghouse LVM37w1. I have uninstalled and hiden the update
and all is well. I just want to let MS know the problems it had caused me.

Vista Error Code KB947562
I cannot download Vista updates. I keep getting an error code KB947562.
Four days ago my problem was that I couldn't download Vista updates and was
getting another error code. After spending countless hours on the phone with
Microsoft, and having to purchase Vista (because of corrupt files), I now
find myself back in the same position-except this time just about everything
on my computer needs to be rebuilt. I hope I don't have to rebuild what
limited things I have on my system again. Tag: Registering the Wups2.dll file worked for me. Tag: 261234

Windows security alert on XP
Today I got a security alert telling me that firewall, automatic updates and
Virus protection was turned off. I have never seen this warning before.
I have managed to fix the firewall and virus protection by persuading Norton
that it had been activated (it seems to have forgot) but I cannot fix the
automatic updates.
I have used services.msc but automatic updates refuses to change from
disabled. I have followed the instructions to reinstall the automatic update
service but this fails because the right program cannot be found.
I have XP home edition with service pack 2 and all later security updates
installed.

Update KB950126 caused loss of internet connection ability
On June 20th Windows Auto Update installed KB950126 on my computer. After
that I was not able to connect to the internet from my desk top unit. I have
Comcast as my provider and I use a Linksys wireless router for my home
network. All of my laptops could continue to connect to the internet, just
the desktop was having the problem (the only computer the update was
installed on). I figured that it had to be related to a resent install since
I had no problems prior to this. I was able to find the list of Updates and
found that KB950126 was the last to be installed. I was able to uninstall
this update and was then able to reconnect to the internet. Yeah for me!!! I
have a Gateway GT5432 bought at Costco with VISTA installed. I have kept Auto
Update on until now. Can someone tell me what might have happened? I have
disabled Auto Upated for now. Any help would be great. Thanks in advance. Tag: Registering the Wups2.dll file worked for me. Tag: 261193

I think I need reinstall Windows Update (removing the previous one) or

If you are a Team Assistant and if you have more than 8 calenders parallel

After that updates download successfully but can not install. One of these
updates was IE 7. I downloaded IE7 seperately from the IE web page and it

installed and removed it from the list however all the other updates are

Vista crash after sp1 - can't recover, can't repair, can't reinsta
I have VISTA Home Premium OEM version (32bit), and it has been fine for over
a year, with automatic updates installing without any problems.
Yesterday Vista tried to install SP1 all by itself, and after the second
reboot, it has killed Vista.
It will start loading, then get halfway through the green
backwards-and-forwards status bar with the black screen, then bluescreens out
and reboots immediately. The blue screen is saying that windows had to shut
down the pc to protect it from damage, or something like that.
I have tried every option to get it to load (safe mode, etc),
it boots up, goes through to 'windows failed to load due to newly installed
hardware or software', then tells me to select safe mode or put in your vista
disk and repair the installation.
In safe mode the list of drivers stream down the screen, and it stops when
it gets to c:\windows\system32\drivers\crcdisk.sys, the hd groans for a few
seconds, then it reboots.
When I put my windows disk in to try to repair it, it is supposed to ask me
to select a language, then proceed, but I can't even get that far. It just
dies at the same point.
Next I downloaded a Vista_repair torrent recommended on a help site and
tried to get it going with that. It dies at the same spot.
Next I give up and decide to kill the windows directory and attempt a
reinstall (my Vista disk won't even give me an option to reinstall on
startup) so I create a bootcd to get to a dos prompt so I can rename or
delete the windows directory (something I have done in past versions of OEM
windows) but whenever I try to use DEL or REN, it errors out saying that it
is an invalid directory. All the attributes seems to be read only, but if I
try to change that, it errors with System error 1. This happens on any file
in the HD.
So I really don't know what to do next. My only option is to slave the hd to
my other XP machine and try to kill the files from there.
This is all a bit extreme for a Vista SP1 update! Obviously something has
gone wrong with a driver, but I don't know how to fix it.
Any suggestions? Download a pirate version of Vista that isn't OEM so as I
can get the bloody thing to work? Vista is the worst $150 I have ever spent.

Windows XP Pro Update Fails Constantly
Hi, I have been endlessly browsing the help forums everywhere, trying every
single suggestion available, and to tell you the truth, I am completely
burned out. Not to mention extremely frustrated and ready to throw this
computer out the window along with my XP Pro CD that I paid over $300 for.
I have been using this CD for years now, never had a problem until now. I
just installed a Fresh copy of XP pro due to buying a new hard drive.
Everything was fine, I called MS and Activated my Copy, all good, but I
cannot download any windows updates.
The plugins install, but then upon the first initial downloads, I get the
error that they will not download. First is the Windows Genuine Advantage
Validation Tool (KB892130), which I took care of by downloading that
individually.
Then came the Update for Windows XP (KB898461) (Installer thing) - But this
one just will not install. - It keeps saying "File is corrupt", and will not
install.
I downloaded "WindowsInstaller-KB893803-v2-x86", but that gives me wierd
errors also, during the install, it starts giving me dialogs boxes looking
for locations, but can't find them, even though it's in the right place. So
that wont install.
I tried all the suggestions everywhere all over the net, but nothing will
remedy the situation. I have in the past ran Windows Update right after a
Fresh Install and Right After a Fresh Activation with absolutely No Problems
at all.
Same CD, same setup procedure, and now it (windows update) will not work
anymore.

Custom analysis slow
When I go to ms update and choose "custom" (so I can choose, see
optional updates, etc) it takes forever to show me what's available.
This is on many different machines at different offices with various
ISPs. Generally cable service or DSL. It can take 5 minutes to a half
hour. Often it ends up offering SP3 or to click on a link to see other
downloads. Then it thinks for that long again before showing the
options. This is an enormous pain when someone is having a problem and
all I want to do is, say, see if there is an updated chipset driver or
something before digging into more involved changes. Is this normal?
Is there anyway to speed it up? Or am I just at the mercy of MS once
again?

"Recommended" Updates for Vista
At some point ("yesterday" according to update), I was told there were two
updates total 22.0MB for Vista. One is KB950124 and the other is KB950125.
Both are related to Media Center. One is a database update for the IR
database and the other pertains to XBox 360.
I've got a laptop, and I loaded Media Center once just to see what it was. I
don't have IR capabilities on my laptop nor do I own (or plan on owning) a
XBox 360...but Vista insists that I download and install this update.
I feel I don't need these....to me Media Center is not a vital part of the
system and since I don't use it, I don't want updates for it, Vista keeps
saying I need them. I've already gone to Hide Update to hide them...but
shouldn't there be SOMETHING in Windows Update that could detect if I use
something that actually needs an update? Is loading Media Center once enough
to trigger updates or are they pushing them on everyone? I mean, it appears
MS did a lot to "upgrade" windows update, but it still seems to think that I
need *every single* update when a lot of them don't pertain to me. Can't the
process be a bit more intelligent? Tag: Registering the Wups2.dll file worked for me. Tag: 261014

Hello, I am having problems with a few clients running XP Pro SP 2 that are
not reporting in into WSUS.
They show up as clients in WSUS but are not showing their Status Report. I
have tried all the following: disjoining the computer from the domain.
Renaming the computer, using the wsuaclt /resetauthorization /detectnow

I am running WSUS 3.0 SP1. This is only happening to a handful of clients.
All computers are receiving their group policy correctly etc. I have also run

Can WSUS 3.0 approve partial updates?
I currently have 12 autonomous wsus servers that synch with 1 upstream
internal wsus server. They are not configured as replicas. I currently have
a process that exports all approvals from the upstream server and copies and
imports them on each downstream after patches are approved. The approval
file is almost 1.2MB and I would like to be able to just include the
"changed" updates in the xml file instead of all (when updating 1 hotfix on
the upstream, I would like to send out an xml with just the info about that 1
update). Will wsus accept and parse the smaller xml and make changes, or
will it expcet to see all approvals and begin doing something very bad to the
server's db? Also if I posted in the wrong group pls advise but wsus group
doesn't show up in the selection drop-down. Thx Tag: Registering the Wups2.dll file worked for me. Tag: 260997
Cannot access printer properties
I have 3 computers on my network that can no longer access the printer
properties or preferences.. They all started on the same day and the
previous evening system restore made a checkpoint for Software Update
Services 3.0. I am pretty sure that this is the culprit, since I reimaged
one of the machines to an earlier date using TrueImage and all worked fine
until once again that update was installed and it quit working again. I can
delete and add new printers and they will print, but still cannot access
properties. When we try to print checks from Great Plains and need to change
the properties to specify a stub tray, we cannot access from there either.

software with no error messages, and even says at the end that the updates
were successfully installed, but the next time I go back there the same
updates are waiting to be installed again.
Automatic Updates also repeatedly tries to install this same update. The
update in question is an update for Microsoft Silverlight. I have also
noticed that Windows Live Software downloads will no longer install failing
with error code 0x80096010.
Thanks. Tag: Registering the Wups2.dll file worked for me. Tag: 260978
