Media Playback

I run decent computer (see below). After installing SP3 while playing music
on itunes, nothing new there, my music lags. And it seems as the play back
slows down to about a tenth of the normal speed, and then starts playing
normally.

Any ideas why? I don't think it is a hardware issue becuase it only does it
for media. Happens to DVDs and youtube as well.
