    - HELP!! Upgraded from xp home to xp pro.. updates do not work! I upgraded yesterday from windows xp home to xp pro and now my windows automatic updates will not install. It say's "some updates were not installed". It says I need "installer 3.1" but it will no let me download it. I have tried all day to fix this with no luck!     - Vista SP1 error code: 0x80070059 Been trying to install SP1 on a Vista Basic machine for 24 hours now. I'm using a standalone Vista SP1 package that I have used on 3 other Vista boxes with no trouble. On this HP lappy it will always error out with an error code: 0x80070059. I have: 1. Run chkdsk 2. Memory test 3. sfc /scannow 4. And the only answer I see in a half hour of Googling. That is to copy the file winusb.inf from c:\Windows\system32\DriverStore\FileRepository\winusb.inf_0362a280\winusb.inf to c:\Windows\inf. That did not work. Anyone know a solution to this?     - Update to Sigma Tel Audio Codec Drivers for Vista sp1 I called microsoft yesterday asking what will be done via this problem for those who cannot get updated drivers for the Sigma Tel audio driver. The problem is Sigma no longer makes audio drivers and passed it off to another company who told me they are not making updated drivers at all for this type of audio codec. So how do you get updated drivers if you cannot? I have been on many forums via Dell and Gateway and thousand of customers have the same problem. First microsoft was giving advise to uninstall the driver and allow Vista to find its own drivers for this. Many did this and found they still had no sound. Microsoft also said to uninstall drivers, put sp1 on and then reput back the driver for sigman tel. Many who did this found after the sp1 install, when trying to put back the driver, Vista now came back with an error msg saying "This driver is not compatable for Vista" so they wound up again with no sound. Well after talking to the tech and he confirmed that this is what was being said- now when people call in they are telling them not do do anything and wait because microsoft is working on a solution to this. They say it will show up in Windows Update either a patch or fix for this problem.     - sound issues. I downloaded an update for my sound the other day and now I can't get sound from my computer. When I do a diagnostic and test my speakers, I can hear sound from the test, but with no other sound function. My computer says my sound system is working properly, YET I still have no sound other then doing a test function for my speakers. This security update for EXCEL will not install on my machine and now I cannot get exel to run unless I look for the exe in the programs file and start it from there. Each time I try to run excel the application crashes because the install fails.     - WSUS clients not registering Hi, Fresh install of Windows 2003 Server, installed and configured WSUS 3 with no issues. All updates are installed and the console looks fine. I setup a GPO to get clients to detect and report to server and then refreshed policy on a client. No clients are detecting in the console. THere is no firewall between the clients and the server. When you have Automatic Updates turned on, the service that controls Automatic Updates appears to bypass / ignore any proxy server settings that are configured for the MSIE 7 client. Are there registry keys for Automatic Updates that would force it to use a proxy server? You try too install it...again and again..it fails with ERROR CODE 8000FFFF. Here is the fix....put away the screwdriver and forget about taking out the modules. Go to Control Panel(classic view), Windows Update, Review Update History,click on installed updates(blue text at the top), Find (KB929777), right click and uninstall it. Reboot the computer. After re-start go to Control Panel, Check For Updates, (KB929777) should be there...if not...download it from Microsoft Updates and save it to desktop. Download and install (KB929777).     - Office 2007 Programs Restart After Closing After Vista SP1 Install I installed Vista SP1 on two laptops (work and home). Both laptops have MS Office 2007. After I installed SP1, every time I close any Office program it tells me "Microsoft Office XXX has stopped working. A problem caused the program to stop working correctly. I tried right clicking on it and went into properties, then security in order to allow full control, but it would not allow me to complete that task. Deleting the file manually would not work either. I then went to the microsoft website as suggested by TaurArian and tried to update windows update, but that also failed, it just opened windows update on my system. Any help would be appreciated. Microsoft Office Excel 2003(KB943985)v2. My Microsoft office is the 2003
version. My computor has Microsoft Window XP, home edition version 2002
service pack 2.
The first version of this update (KB943985) went fine on March11
automatically, but this v2 is not updating for me.

Please advise.
