The computer is a new Dell Server and a fresh install of Server 2008
Enterprise. I have Remote Desktop enabled on the server utilized by the
wizard. Windows Firewall is on as is the public and private firewall. This
is an edge server so it has one public IP and a private IP. I get the same
results coming from both private and public IP.

I will use remote desktop to try to connect to the server, and the page will
come up telling me incorrect username or password. I know the password and
username are correct, but no matter what I type in I continuously get this
error while trying to remote into the machine. I have created a new account
with remote priveledges and tried that as well and it does not work either.
However, when I use either to log in locally, they work fine.

This is a fresh install with only the AD, DNS, and a few other services
configured but no software other than Server 2008 components.

Hello CPickler,

Check the mstsc for the security configuration, advanced tab, server authentication.
Set it to Connect or Connect and don't warn me.

I have the same issue on a default Server 2008 configuration. The Connect and
don't warn me setting was already selected on the Remote Desktop client in my
case, so this was not the solution for me. I believe it is something on the
server side.
