    - Windows Management need help Hi, We have Windows AD with two DC (windows 2003 R2) and 10 servers (2000, 2003 and 2008). We have 250 windows Clients (most XP) and 10 Linux machines. I am looking for the simple way to manage all computers from one place. I need software (system) for Assets management, Software deployment, Knowlidge base. After months of searching and testing I could not find the solution. I am the only one System Administrator at our company and it is staring to be difficult to manage everything manually without automatic. My brain have no more place to keep all the information.     - Unable to join memberserver from remote location Ladies and Gents, I got a database server on a remote location which I want to join to my new active directory infrastructure based on 2003. The database server has an IP address of 172.1.9.2/16 and my dc's in the main location 10.0.216.1/21 and 10.0.216.2/21. From both location I am able to ping etc. Now when I want to join the database server I am unable to do so. After I putted in the credentials I recieve after 10-15 sec the error "The RPC server is unavailable". All ports are open between my main and remote location. Anyone got an answer?     - Installing DFS on a Transitioned Small Business Server Hi All, Up until recently, we were running Small Business Server 2003 R2. We have now installed the transition pack on this server to now make it a full Windows 2003 Server (R2 I assume) I want to use the R2 version of DFS as we have branch offices that will benefit greatly from this but I cannot install Distributed File System from the Add/Remove Windows Components.     - Windows Live Communication Server 2005 - Web Access Having some problems with LCS 2005 web access whilst trialing it for production use. I'm getting an error 1 when logging on, and various websites have pointed towards a problem with the certificate. Now I'm not a big fan of certificates, and will admit to not knowing much about the implementation with Certificate Services in Svr 2003. I've requested a certificate from the CA with the name of the FQDN machine with web access installed on it.     - Change all admin account descriptions? We already have a GPO in place to rename all our local administrator accounts to another name, but the problem is someone can still tell straight off (i know the SID could give it away too) that it's the admin account since it's description still says it's the administrator account... is there anyway to change this local admin description though a GPO or simple script on a remote computer to say something different? thanks! Now when I try to reload a print driver the systems tells me that the print spooler service is not started.     - Interact with a program I am at a loss, we have a program for scheduling rooms. I would like to make the scheduler interactive. Right now the program is used by an office staff. The objective is to have the schedule appear on a website and have the users view the schedule for room availability. I've testing this on both Windows 2K3 SP1 and SP2 machines. I'm assuming the hotfix contained in KB899409 is included in SP2 since the version of ntlanman.dll is way higher than the hotfix. I've cranked up userenv to 30002 but that doesn't give me anything more than 10002 ? Does anyone have any ideas or suggestions ?     - Installation locks up eating memory Hi I posted a few days ago about a problem with SBS2003 fresh install locking up during server tools setup on Internet Explorer 6.0 installtion. I had a reply saying it was probably due to an active internet connection. Since this i have installed a brand new harddrive and pulled the plug on the router while attempting the setup. Again the initial part of the setup is fine, its when it gets to the actual server configuration. Its gets as far as installing server tools, the message says its doing internet explorer 6.0. Ive left it at this point for several hours and it gets no futher. A look in the process list shows the setup process is just eating more and more memory. After a few hours it was up past 1gb of memory. I searched the harddrive for what was growing as i was also loosing harddrive space during this point. I have subsequently had to replace a printer as it reached the end of it's life, I have replaced the printer and deployed it OK however I am unable to remove the old printer, in Print Management I have removed the printer but it still appears on all desktops it was deployed to, if I delete the printers from the PC they reappear. Bios have boot option "SATA Drive" only no option of disk selection along with other floppy/cd options. Problem is I cannot use dual boot. If I disbale first drive which have win xp then I can boot and run windows 2003 server if I enable first drive it goes to XP not giving me any option to boot through win 2003.     - Page File out of Space Hello, We inhereted a configuration with two hard drives configured on one controller with a capacity of 75Gb total. 32Gb is being used for the OS mirrored. The drive has been partitioned in order to seperate the page file from the OS with 45Gb. Currently the page file is running low with only 11Mb left in use. Is there a way to fix the problem of why would it use up all the paging? We recently loaded up the server with 4Gb of RAM from running only on 2Gb. Any help would be appreciated.     - Robocopy job errorl with "The handle is invalid" on a large (161GB) I'm trying to use robocopy to do a restartable-copy (/ZB) of a backup image from my server to a full-disk encrypted (truecrypt) hard drive. Whenever robocopy gets to 94.4% of the file though, it starts bombing out saying that "The handle is invalid." (An unexpected network error occurred) Group Policy processing aborted." This is from the Application log of the server itself (SBS2003)! Repeats every 5 minutes. Have spent ages trying to find solution without success. I suspect it has to do with MS Virtual PC 2007. I need it to run tests on Windows 2000, XP and Vista without having to have any more hardware. Typically have 2 or 3 virtual PCs running at the same time. They also report Winlogon and Browser failures but browse network fine. Some are domain members others are on the same name workgroup. Server otherwise functions OK with occasional slowness in web browsing probably due to DNS issues when it forgets its own name. It sits on the green channel of IPcop Linux based router and is itself the DHCP server. Making IPcop the DHCP server makes no difference. Any ideas? The day-of-month range would be the same every month. There doesn't appear to be a way to specify more than one day, or a day range with the /d parameter.     - Upgrading Windows CA Authority Hi, I have a windows 2000 CA that I want to remove from the network. I want to replace this with a 2003 CA but the standard process poses some problems The MS suggested Upgrade/Migration process states 1. Upgrade the 2000 CA to 2003 before migration - the problem here for me is the 2000 DC is very old and I'm fairly confident it wouldn't be sufficient for W2003 2. The new CA should have the same name as the old CA - I already have all the required servers setup and running. Further I would prefer not to have a server named the same as the old one. My question is - considering my preferred network setup requires that I move to a new server with a different name I was thinking that I would follow the process http://support.microsoft.com/kb/889250 to remove the CA that is currently installed on the 2000 DC/CA, remove the 2000 DC/CA then install a brand new 2003 CA on a different server with a different name. Computer configuration, windows settings, security settings, local policies,
user rights assignments, in th right pane check out for "Shut down the system"
