Hi,,,I need a little bailing out.

I just reformatted and reloaded WinME, (a Dell version)

One of the problems that I've run into is in Explorer,,,
(rt.clicking on start and choosing explore).
It doesn't shows the "folders" view. Normally, you could
see all the folders, drives etc...on the left. Now it
shows a gray box with an X in the upper rt corner. All the
other options,,(search, media,etc...) work just
not "folders" Any hints?
would REALLY appreciate it!!
Thanks

Jer,

Try View - Explorer Bar - Folders.

Cheers,
Chuck
Paranoia comes from experience - and is not necessarily a bad thing.

This is normally caused by a slightly corrupted install of Internet Explorer
(yes - I do mean IE!)
Reboot to Safe Mode
Go to Add/Remove Programs and try a repair of Internet Explorer from there.
Go to the entry for 'Microsoft Internet Explorer 6 SP1 and Internet Tools'
in Add/Remove Programs
Click on Remove - and click on Repair on the window that pops up
Reboot on request to Normal Mode

If the above entry isn't there, you first need to uninstall all the patches
applied, then do the repair, then reapply the patches
The patches are listed in Add/Remove under the names 'Internet Explorer
Qxxxxxx'
highlight, click Remove - reboot if requested.
Repeat until the MSIE6SP1 entry appears - then repair as above.

HTH

Welll,,,unfortunately, that didn't do it. I removed the
only patch that was listed and did the repair,,,twice
actually,,, but still no go. I thought maybe trying the ol
de-install re-install on IE but it didn't give me the
option to remove it.
Any other suggestions?

OK (what's your AV, BTW??)
Try this...

Start|Run
type
SCANREG /FIX
click OK - Windows will reboot, rebuilding the registry.

Then try the repair again, while in Safe mode.
