Hi all,
My problem....
Cntl>enter in address bar in IE 6 to complete url
and
cntl>left mouse button to select several non-consecutive files in
windows explorer
what to do????

Receive error on boot up:
"WJView Error: Could not execute Main. System cannot find
the specified file."
System then tries to find the file matcli in MSDOS.
Nothing happens.
Did a search for matcli and found this error log

Security Update Downloads
Hi,
Is there any way a person can download all of the Windows Me and IE6
security updates at one time so I can save them on a CD? If I can't
download all of them, how about most of them.
The reason is that I am planning to do a reformat of my system and
would like to download the security updates ahead of time. I am on
dial up and all the downloads take almost 1 day to download and
install.

HELP! Windows ME won't thumbnail JPEG files
I have Windows ME and I cannot get a thumbnail pic to
appear for JPEG files. The thumbnail will come up for
TIFF files but not JPEG. This only happened within the

I need to load the two files in order for my camera to
connect. The message that I get says to insert my Windows
ME disk but, all I have is a restore disk. The files I
need are USBNTMAP.SYS and USBSTOR.SYS. Any idea where I
can find these.

Hey there, can anybody out there help me? When I try to
use the control panel on my computer, I get the following

install error on new hard drive with full install of oem ME
I replaced a hard drive (same kind and same size) for my
brother. The Me is oem full version of software. It
installs all the way to where it says it's loading plug &
play and non plug & play devices. I get a blue screen
with an error of 0E : 032F : 0000776B also say the hit
any key to return to windows or alt ctrl del to
restart. I did the return to windows and all I got was
a black screen. I tried to restart several times and
same thing comes up. I'm ready to throw the thing out

No sound on computer
I have a HP computer with Windows ME edition on it. I
recently received notification of a Windows update and did
the update. After completing the update I now have NO
sound at all and cannot open any attachments at all. What

Missing thumbnails
Recently my thumbnails are missing from Explore. I have it set for the
icons, then when I click on an icon, a little thumbnail shows just under
the info for that file.
I tried checking winfile "associate" and that doesn't work either. Any
suggestions on how I can get my thumbnails back??

Computer Freezes spool32[not responding] during web page print
If I try to print a web page from ME Internet Explorer 6.0
that contains a data field (looks like a box for you to
enter in information),my computer freezes. If I Ctrl-Alt-
Delete to see the list of tasks that are running, one is
listed as spool32[not responding]. I can print with all
other applications (Word,Excel, etc.) and no problem
printing web pages that do not have data entry boxes. I
have tried printing the same web page that I get the error
on from on a different computer (with XP) and I was able

Deleted entire OS
Somehow my kids have deleted the OS (Millenium) from my
pc. To make things worse my cd rom was broken so I could
not reformat and reistall. I have since put a new cd/rw
drive in but the bios does not recognize it. Is there a
way to install the driver so that I can then reistall the
OS. The pc does boot up but then all I get is a blank

hi i don't know what i did but all of a sudden i get
prompted to sign before windows loads. it said once as tip
not to type a password and just click cancel and then next
time you would not be asked. well i did that but now i
still get asked and i just click cancel and go on but i

Copying to CD/RW Drive
I have successfully backed up Quicken and have copied CDs
to a newly installed CD/RW drive. However when I try to
copy My Document files in Windows ME, I get the
message "Please insert a disk into Drive F" I get this
message whether the disk is a CD/R or CD/RW. I tried to
follow Microsoft Knowledge Base article 189526 but step 3
didn't work because there was no "property" option.
Perhaps Windows ME lacks the appropriate driver. How do I

My friend just sent me an odd message over ICQ, it reads:
i cant start IE or my computer, each time it says 'explorer has caused an
error in VX2.dll explorer will now close
i've restared it twice and shut it down once and i still have the problem
I have never used Windows ME, having made the leap from 98SE straight to XP
Pro. Does anyone have any ideas about what this message means and how to
solve the problem?

microsoft updates
i've been trying for 2 weeks to update milenium and xp on
my 2 computers, nothing but error messages. the xp

"Hang Up" during install
I'm trying to reinstall Windows Me on my machine due to
problems discussed earlier (corruption of Explorer.exe).
However, when the installer begins "Setting up Hardware"
and the box reads "Windows Millenium Edition is now
setting up your hardware and any Plug and Play devices
you may have ..." with 15 minutes remaining, my computer
stops responding or hangs up. I've followed the
instructions and turn the machine off and then back on
numerous times, but continue to hang at that point. I've
even allowed the machine to sit for ~2-hours, hoping it
would continue on with the install.
Does anyone have any suggestions? Thanks in advance for

Desktop Icons & Folders Icons Corrupted
As soon as i came out the internet, my desktop
icons background turn white in color. This is there for 2 -
3 days after that it was restored automatically. I checked
for virus but no virus is there.. And it take nearly
3minutes to boot the system even I cleared all the temp
files. I formatted my hard disk & again I installed
WindowsME, it seems to be good for somedays then the same
problem occurs. I'm able to find teh solution for this
issue. My system configuration is Intel PIII - 1Ghz,
256MB RAM, Intel 845 original motheboard, 8x DVD-ROM,

NDIS Athlon XP
I just upgraded my motherboard. After installing all of
the device drivers, I cannot get WinME to boot without
doing one of the following, 1) disable ndis.vxd or 2)
unplugging the network cable.
If I boot without the network cable, plugging it in causes
WinME to freeze.
Old motherboard was AMD-K6-2
New motherboard is
Gigabyte GA-7VT600-L (Realtek8139 on-board)
Athlon 2700+
512MB DDR2700 Ram
I also tried disabling the on-board lan and installed my
old D-Link DFE-530+ lan card with latest drivers. Exact

The Winternals.Com utility Filemon was suggested and the user downloaded and executed.

Thanks for the info. I downloaded the Filemon, I found out that the process
writing these fff*.tmp files is the dllhost. I don't know what this does,
but can I get rid of it safely. I've heard some documentation that the
Welchia virus can infect the dllhost, is this true? If so, how do I clean
it? I hope you can read the bottom entry, I copied it from the Filemon log.
it shows that dllhost.exe was opened at 1:33 PM and Opened the FFF354AD*.tmp
files. I checked my windows directory as soon as I saw these entries and
indeed, these files were now in the C:\Windows directory.

up I have low resorces, I have gone to start up and I have

I'm having a couple of problems. First when I boot my
computer this window comes up---This executable is
corrupt, Please obtain a new copy. What does this mean?
Then I get Explorer has caused an error in KERNEL32.DLL

system failure
have windows ME installed on another machine. Trying to

Recycle Bin malfunction
I hope you folks can help out. I am at a releatives house,
I was informed and discoved that for whatever reason, this
paticular computer's recycle bin does not work. If I
delete something, pop up works, "are you sure you want to
delete this item", I say yes, the item does delete, but
when opening the recycle bin, it is not there! So, can't
restore the item. Have no idea about this one. Any
suggestions? Looks to me to be a secret setting or a lost

Windows ME Restore
How can I delete a particular file from the C:\_Restore
folder without disabling System Restore? I have an
unwanted spyware file in this folder. When I tried to
remove a similar file earlier, I disabled System Restore
and was told to reboot. When Windows restarted, all the
available restore points were deleted (including the
spyware). How can I remove an unwanted file without losing

Help on gneral hardware problem
I have a Dell PC Dimension L800r. I have 256 MB of Ram and
of that I have 57% free system resources. Some time the PC
works fine and then out of the blue when I am using
Outlook or word, as I am typing it starts to write very,
very slow. To fix this I have to restart the PC and is
very anoying. Some time I have to do this two or three
times a day. I checked the software installation and I
