The end result is that the PC will be running XP Home and in most respects
the method of installation is immaterial. The difference being that any
applications installed whilst running Win Me will still be installed after
upgrading to XP, that is all except those such as AV applications and CD
burning apps that need to be uninstalled prior to any upgrade 9after which
they can be reinstalled).
How it will look visibly is very much down to you. For example if in XP
you choose Classic Mode and turn off themes then it will look very similar
to Win Me however that is your choice and fully reversible.
Since the PC was upgraded to XP from Win Me you should try and ensure that
not only do you get the original Win Me disks but also the XP upgrade disk
as well.
