Start by scanning your system for unwanted guests. A virus scanner is
essential in these days, as is a spyware/adware scanner. For spyware, I
recommend AdAware from
http://www.lavasoftusa.com/ as a good user-friendly
tool. Spybot from
http://security.kolla.de/ is also good but it can be a
bit daunting for the beginner and may want to remove things (like history
lists) that you don't want it to remove.
