Two weeks ago I put in a question asking if anyone knew
how to open attachments in Windows ME sent from Windows XP
and instead of an answer, I've been flooded with emails
that have software updates to XP.
I want to stop thesse emails and unsubscribe. The
microsoft instructions say click on newsgroup then click
unsubscribe but no such option exists. HELP!!!

"subscribing" to this newsgroup has nothing to do with your receiving e-mails
but rather that you published your e-mail address in a message somewhere,
perhaps in this newsgroup. What you are receiving is either spam or more
likely copies of the Swen worm. Both Swen and spam bots harvest e-mail
addresses from the newsgroups and then use these to send their junk. So once
your address has been harvested then you are likely to continue to receive
unwanted mail regardless of whether you subscribe to this or any other
newsgroup.

Note: Microsoft does not send unsolicited e-mails containing software
updates. These are worms and viruses that purport to be from Microsoft but
are not.
