You may want to read about the MOVE command after you write down your
Product Key number from your ME cd or your Case or your PC or in your
Registry. It is usually a 25 digit number similar to the following;

Click Start

Run

regedit

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion

B3FBJ-F8VRG-439C7-3GG35-BVJG4

The MOVE command is used to Move/Rename C:\Windows to C:\WinOld then you
reinstall C:\Windows from C:\Options
-------------------------------------
Look here first.
http://aumha.org/win4/a/clean.htm
-------------------------------------
Normally, when installing Me from a MS retail CD, it copies the whole
installation setup folder to windows\options\install. But with (some?) OEM
CD's, it copies them to windows\options\cab.

When creating a startup disk, WinMe searches your hard drive for the
installation folder containing BASE2.CAB from one or other of the above
folders, depending on where the installation folder was copied to, and
extracts (some of) the files - including aspi2dos.sys etc. - from BASE2.CAB.

Your problem suggests that WinMe may be looking in the wrong folder (the
path may be wrong or missing) or possibly the installation files *may* have
been deleted at some time (to save approx 120MB of disk space).

However, if they are still in either the \install or \CABS folder, then you
only need to re-direct the warning to the appropriate folder and it should
then continue and create the disk.

If you haven't got the installation files on your hard disk, then you can
download a WinMe bootdisk making utility from www.bootdisk.com -
-------------------------------------
You do not have to format C: to reload.

You can delete all the folders in C:\ after you xcopy C:\WIndows\Options
over to C:\Options then re-install from C:\Options

As a last resort you can Xcopy over C:\Windows\Options to C:\Options and use
the MOVE command on the A:\ Bootup floppy and move C:\Windows to C:\winold
and then reinstall a clean install from C:\Options to C:\Windows

To reformat C:\
Help
F1
Control Panel
Add/Remove
Startup Disk

Copy C:\Windows\Command\format.* to the A:\ floppy startup disk
Copy C:\Windows\Command\fdisk.* to the A:\ floppy startup disk
Copy C:\Windows\Command\xcopy.* to the A:\ floppy startup disk
-------------------------------------
See MS KB 270593 - ""Error SU0325" When
Windows Me Setup Is 10 Percent Complete"

Which explains this error message. Basically one or other of the various
cab files could not be copied to your PC resulting in a damaged copy on the
hard disk. Probably due to the CD being scratched, dirty or otherwise
damaged but just possibly due to some other hardware problem or even a
virus.

The KB explains how to determine the file in question and makes some
suggestions as to how to proceed.

There is no "fdisk" in XP. The Disk Management
tool does everything.

If you don't have TweakUI the latest version of
TweakUI for Win Me (1.33) can be obtained from
