I am out of town, don't have my emergency boot disk, and
my laptop picked up a problem that has corrupted the
registry. It tries to start up in safe mode but cannot
complete the start. I need a EBD but mine's at home and I
won't be there for another month. Is there anywhere I can
pick up the files for a basic emergency boot up so I can
get in and start making finding the problem and making
repairs? I cannot even get in to dos. Thanks for reading
this.

If you are unable to create a boot floppy you can download the image of a
Win Me OEM boot disk from www.bootdisk.com. Download to your desktop,
double click to run and follow the prompts to transfer the image to a
floppy. I feel however that you should in this case only do this as a
last resort if you really are unable to make a disk using the instructions
in the previous paragraphs. You don't have to be running Win Me on the
system you use when you download and make the Win Me boot floppy.

Maybe check a local computer repair shop in whatever town you may
be.....with any luck, they might agree to provide you with a bootdisk at a
nominal fee or free.
Some motel/hotels have computers available for guests......if that be the
case, you could download one from www.bootdisk.com .
Heirloom, old and it could happen

Sorry about the

which was due to cutting and pasting from a previous reply. :-)

Good suggestions. Thanks for the advise.

Heirloom, I have asked around and get laughed at because I
still have WINMe, and haven't upgraded to XP. I have my
reasons... Thanks

David

Hey, this is an Me newsgroup.......don't feel like the Lone
Ranger......everyone here still has some connection to Me. Personally, I
like it. My mother's computer has XP (I have to help her rather often, not
with problems as much as the fact that she is 80 and this is her first
computer <g>) and I prefer mine.....probably due to the "familiarity
factor." It has been on here since the day it hit the shelves and I have
never reloaded it. Someday, in the not so distant future, when I am 80,
maybe I'll upgrade........
