Symantec, Zonealarm and McAfee all have deserted WinME. Anybody know
where antivirus and firewalls are available?

There are plenty of AV applications available for Win Me including
Computer Associates eTrust and NOD32. Symantec's NAV never worked
correctly with Win Me with the result that it had effects worse than many
of the viruses that it claimed to stop. Other possibilities include
Avast! (free and paid for) and AVG (also free and paid for).

As for firewalls why not use an earlier version of ZA that is compatible
with Win Me? Most of the recent versions of ZA have simply added
unnecessary padding to the core.

You can get every version of ZoneAlarm Free ever relased from here
http://download.zonelabs.com/bin/free/information/znalm/zaReleaseHistory.html.
I know for a fact that the 5.5 branch worked fine on my WinME machine.
Good luck.

AOL is free and includes McAfee antivirus and firewall and anti-spyware
software.

AOL now offers ActiveVirusShield which is the Kaspersky engine and it
rates *extremely* high and performs *extremely* well :

I HIGHLY recommend it for 9x systems.
