    - Delay in Using Windows ME Explorer&My Computer When using Explorer or My Computer there is a 30-45 sec. delay in gaining access to the Drives or Directories. The OS seems to be in a waiting mode - HourGlass Displayed during this delay. This happens everytime I attempt to open Explorer or My Computer. I am running Windows ME using an asus motherboard - IDE raid config as a boot up drive, an additional IDE drive (non-raid) config as a slave, a DVD Burner and CDR burner, (two units) and a 6 in 1 digital card reader.     - CD ROM I can't seem to find an answer for this one...and please, not too technical or I'm lost. When putting a CD in, the computer locks up, with the exception of the cursor. It doesn't matter what type, whether audio or otherwise. At times when I try to "trick" it into running the disc, and initiating the start of a game, I'll get the "Insert the disc now" message, although it's already in. Any ideas?? Thanks!     - Defrag starts running on its own Hi all - I have been having a problem with the defrag starting to run all of a sudden, seemingly on its own. The scandisk does not run first, only the defrag starts up. It does not happen at any particular time of the day, or day of the week, as if it is a scheduled activity. But, usually when it starts to run, the machine has been idle for a while. I have gone into another room for about 15-20 minutes, and when I come back, the defrag program is running..? I do not have it set to run on any particular schedule, or..at least not intentionally. I run the scandisk manually at least every couple of days, and the defrag every month or so, depending on my computer activities. I have updated and run my SpyBot, Adaware, AV's, HijackThis and Stinger. Perhaps a bit of overkill, but, I seem to be hunting a ghost, so I called on all the GhostBusters I could think of. ;-) I'd truly appreciate any suggestions, information or input, in hopes it might shed some light on what may be causing this odd behavior.     - Errors??? When i turn on my computer before it loads, i get this black screen and it says at the topleft hand corner, WININIT.EXE : Missing/Unable to load. Press any key to continue... After i do so it loads as usual then i get this other message a circle with a red X, Windows cannot find '/P'. You may have typed the name incorrectly in the Run dialog, or another program cannot find a System file, click the strat button, and then click search. I have tried to use System Restore but it wont work, it tells me that System restore was Unable to restore to an earlier time and that nothing has changed. Can anybody help with all this errors...     - can't download windows updates Hi, I have been going into my windows updates that opens in my start menu. When I click on it to search for updates to my windows ME, it says I have 3 critical updates. I click on "install now", then it looks like it's going to start the upgrade but the progress stays a 0 and nothing happens. When I go into my update history, it says they all failed. My computer has been acting weird for about 6 months now but it's not too bad. I can still use it fine. I just have a feeling that there is a problem pn my C drive. I have run all virus scans and things to check your computer and it doesn't find anything. There is some reason why I cand download the updates and sometimes I cand do the maintenance. When it gets to disc defrag, it stays on 0 also. Ant suggestions? Is there some program I can run that will check my hard drive for problems? There must be something messed up somewhere.     - install error on new hard drive with full install of oem ME I replaced a hard drive (same kind and same size) for my brother. The Me is oem full version of software. It installs all the way to where it says it's loading plug & play and non plug & play devices.     - Computer Freezes spool32[not responding] during web page print If I try to print a web page from ME Internet Explorer 6.0 that contains a data field (looks like a box for you to enter in information),my computer freezes. If I Ctrl-Alt- Delete to see the list of tasks that are running, one is listed as spool32[not responding]. I can print with all other applications (Word,Excel, etc.) and no problem printing web pages that do not have data entry boxes. However, when the installer begins "Setting up Hardware" and the box reads "Windows Millenium Edition is now setting up your hardware and any Plug and Play devices you may have ..." with 15 minutes remaining, my computer stops responding or hangs up. I've followed the instructions and turn the machine off and then back on numerous times, but continue to hang at that point.     - corrupted icons Desktop Icons & Folders Icons Corrupted As soon as i came out the internet, my desktop icons background turn white in color. This is there for 2 - 3 days after that it was restored automatically. I checked for virus but no virus is there.. And it take nearly 3minutes to boot the system even I cleared all the temp files. We have two Palm hand held units. One of them can be hot
synched and downloaded to Outlook, but the other one is
not responding the same way. We know it is hot synching,
but we do not know where the files are downloaded to. Can
anyone help us with this situation
