    - Memory space I need to delete some things to open up the memory on my hard drive. I recently had to re-install Windows because of a virus problem. When going through the re-install process, I was asked if I wanted to keep my old version of Windows. I answered yes and now my computer is running slower than ever. I can not figure out how to delete the original Windows or what else I can do to speed my system up.     - Error message I recently deleted a couple of users off my computer (Windows ME). It now comes up with an error message as follows: Windows encountered an error accessing the Registry. Windows will repair the registry for you & restart the computer. When you press OK the computer restarts but just comes up with same error message again.     - Windows hanging on 1st start up Hi all - Windows has started to hang on the first startup since day before yesterday. I thought at first it was just a 'thing', but, it is doing it with every new startup. After I turn it off with the power button, it then restart it comes up and works fine. I am not getting any error messages, it just freezes up It seems to load ok, I have my active desktop displayed, but, once that happens it just seems to hang, lock up, and I have to turn it off with the power button and then restart. . It stops processing at the same place each time, before the AV and then Zone Alarm loads. I recall seeing a few other posts about a same or similar event, but, can't nail them down, or remember the solution. I would truly appreciate it if someone could point me in the direction of a KB article or Help file that will address this. I found a couple of KB articles, but, they did not address this problem.     - folder options Can I set default folder viewing options for all folders without opening each folder and setting each individually.     - Deleting AOL files. I have inherited my kids HP computer now that they are off to college. I have deleted the main AOL program using Add/Remove but am left with 25 or so associated AOL files. All sorts of stuff. The os is Win ME. 1. Can I delete these files from the Search program or print them off and track them down with Windows Explorer or My Computer and still end up with a properly operating Win ME ? 2. With information from this newsgroup I fixed the logon password problem and the problem with it starting in Selective startup instead of Normal startup. Thanks gang. Now when it boots up I get an Internet Explorer main window popping up without being connected to the Internet. Could not find any reference to this in the Startup section of MSCONFIG. Thoughts ?     - DVD Playback I've just added a DVD player to a rebuilt Windows ME machine. The drivers came with the drive unit, so I'm assuming it is setup OK... I can use the drive as a CD without any problems, but I'm cant seem to get DVDs going. On my XP Pro machine, I can view DVDs in windows media player, but not on the ME machine.     - Start Menu Help Dear One And All, When I click "Help" from the start menu I am lately getting the notice that "windows cannot find "helpctr.exe" " despite the fact that it is right where it is supposed to be.     - email I edit for a newsletter. When I send it to the publisher who has ME she gets it with unnatural shortened and elongated lines. We both use the AOL Email form. When I send my edited version to myself everything is fine. But she has to retype it to get it to normal. So it seems there is something about ME that forces different line and/or letter counts.     - Digital Camera I'm trying to install the fuji finepix software for my fuji602Z camera that seems to install correctly. When I plug my camera into the usb port my compaq computer acts like its updating the hardware than it looks for the file named usbtor.sys.     - Where's the refund Since buying my computer new last year, I've had nothing but problems. Everyone I talk the old "OH NO" when they find I'm stuck (by Bill Gates and Friends) with "ME". The system never worked and never will. I just tried to download the up grade advisor from the Microsoft web site, when it began checking my system to see if it could be upgraded to a better operating system ME performed as usual "poorly" and locked up. The new worm, known as Mydoom or Novarg, is spreading through email attachments and Kazaa file sharing networks. The worm has launched a world-wide denial-of-service attack from every infected computer against the website of SCO, one of the largest Unix vendors in the world. However, the WWW.SCO.COM site seems to be still operational. There's been a lot of discussion about SCO after they claimed last December that the Linux operating system was violating SCO's intellectual property rights in UNIX technology. "There are a lot of kids out there who feel like SCO's attacking them", comments Mikko Hypponen, Director of Anti-Virus Research at F-Secure Corporation. "Apparently someone of them decided that it's ok attack back." In addition of the denial-of-service attack, the worm also opens up a backdoor to infected computers by listening to TCP port 3176. This way the worm author can gain access to infected computers afterwards. The emails sent by the worm are fairly random: From: <random email address> To: <address of the recipient> Subject: <random words> Message body: (several different mail error messages, such as:) Mail transaction failed. Partial message is available. Attachment (with a textfile icon): random name ending with ZIP, BAT, CMD, EXE, PIF or SCR extension. When a user clicks on the attachment, the worm will start Notepad, filled with random characters and it will immediately start to spread further. I installed Windows XP last June. Forgot to save on disk
for tranfer folder with photos sent by e-mail to me. Any
possible chance of getting it back when I had Windows ME?
