I shut down my computer properly and it turns itself back on so I have to
hold the power switch down until it shuts off. How can I correct this
problem?

Try Jim Eshelman's excellent site:-

"Windows Shutdown & Restart Centre - Troubleshooting in 15 Steps"

Thanks for suggestion, but I went through all the steps and they all refer to
a hang-up on shutdown. Mine shuts down ok, but latter it just comes on by
itself..What is the triger for this start and how do I stop it?

As a wild guess, did you check Task Manager to see if you have something set
to turn the computer on??

In that case, it *may* be due to your modem activity.

Check in your BIOS in the Power Management section for 'ModemRingOn',
'WakeOnLAN', 'USB Device Wake-up' or similar option being enabled and
disable it.

Sorry.....I meant to say "Scheduled Tasks" wherein you can set a time for
defrag, scandisk, etc.

I am not answering any more WinME questions until I get my router set up so
that I can remember how in heck that O/S worked....LOL!! Not to mention,
all of my "handy hints by Sir Michael" are on that machine.

Cheers.....Heather
