    - ineb.dll I can't get into any Windows ME applications, such as: my computer, explorer, control panel, find, search---. I can get into programs loaded onto the system. When I try to get into the Windows applications a pop-up window tells me to check my content advisor, then another pop-up tells me that an ineb.dll file is missing.     - folder options While attempting to change the icon to my folders I accidently caused the MS-DOS Prompt window to come up every time I double click on a folder in My Documents. I was in Folder Options under Tools in File Types and under Advanced in the Folder and File Folder spot and I changed the icon. I made the mistake of thinking that if I set it as Default it would stick. Instead it started to open the Windows Explorer every time I doubleclicked. So I went back in and discovered that I had set the command Explore as Default not the icon. So I tried to give it a new command like Open and set that as default so now it opens MS-DOS Prompt. If anyone has any ideas on how do undo a default I can't delete the actions out the option is not available with folders and I have tried System Restore, unsuccessfully. I have Windows Me.     - admin problems "Your admisistrator disabled the Display control panel" is the error I get when I want to change the screen saver settings, basically when I go into the display. THe thing is their is only one user set on my computer,,me their are no passwords I have enable except for the screen saver which I know...no one else uses my computer...I don't know what else to say.... I need to know if their is another way to access or reset the settings for this folder in control pannel.     - inf files When I download windows updates, then install, I have to cancel after a minute, because I end up with thousands of oem****.inf @ 0kb in the inf files.     - logon i reinstalled windows me. now everytime i turn on my computer i get a windows network logon box. While all i have to do is hit cancel and the computer will continue to boot, this is annoying because you must stay with it while it boots to wait for that screen......does anyone know how to disable that logon screen so it will fully boot.     - tried to update with windows 2000 I tried to update ME since it keeps feezing so much we can't use the computer. When I tried to update with windows 2000 it installed as a 2nd operating system. Now it wont let me delete windows 2000 and I can't transfer my icons, email account and files over. How can I either delete windows 2000, or integrate windows ME into Windows 2000?     - System Locks Up When I have a few windows open, the system totally freezes. I can't even use control-alt-delete to shut down. Nothing works at that point.     - Connecting USB Smart Card reader crashes WinMe I get a blue screen "Problem with system file" message, referring to VxD dynamic link call NTMAPHLP(02) + 00000002 to "004F", service 1. (The USB Smart Card reader I'm trying to use connects fine to another machine sitting beside the one that crashes, so I know it's not the USB Smart Card reader that's at fault.)     - 81696 Security Update Trashes Windows Me - HELP!!! After installing this security update, my Windows Me notebook has been rendered unusable! Apparently, all ActiveX controls have been disabled and I can't do ANYTHING on the computer except browse the web.     - No Sound I took my computer into the shop as my video card drivers were corrupted. They fixed the problem, but now I have no sound :( I called the tech and he said I would need to re- install Windows ME, but I can`t do that as it is an OEM which means I only have a Recovery CD and diskette. When I log onto Internet Explorer, I keep getting this http://default-homepage-network.com/index6.html and then an add for downloading spywiper comes up and a couple not so nice pop ups and my cd rom opens up automatically. and notebook opens up. With messages like if your cd rom drive opened up your being attacked by spyware, and it notebook opens up with a message in it, your being attacked by spyware. I did download Ad Aware 6.0 and Sybot as reccommended by Comcast, but they do not capture the sypware. Do I have a virus. I change the default homepage on tool, options, and type in my comcast.net. but when I log off my computer and log back on, that default home page is in the address bar again and the same pop ups come back up.     - WinME inaccurately reporting C: space Hi everyone! I'm new to microsoft.public.windowsme.general, so please bear with me... anyway, problem. Currently, my C: drive is (I'm pretty sure) inaccurately displaying the amount of space remaining. On seven occasions in the past week and a half or so, I've deleted up to 1.2GB of stuff off of it. At no time in this past week and a half has it shown more than 500MB being free, and usually it says something between 30MB and 200MB. This happened once before on this drive, I believe, and once before on another drive... can't quite remember. It's happened at least once before, though, and that time it solved itself. Has anyone had this issue, and can anyone shed some light on it? This drive is a Seagate Barracuda ATAII, about 30GB total space, with three partitions consisting of a FAT32 partition (27.0GB), an ext2 (linux filesystem) partition (1GB), and a linux swap partition (500MB).     - Unable to post/reply to newsgroups via Outlook Express Hello all, I am able to post/reply from the Microsoft website, but not from Outlook Express 6.0. I used to use Outlook Express but haven't for a long time. Now that I need to use it, it won't allow me to do so. Here is what happens: I will see a newsgroup message I would like to post or reply from within Outlook Express 6.0. I will type out my post or reply and when i hit the send button I get this message: "The message could not be sent. No sender was specified. Please check your news account configuration." As far as I can tell everything seems to be as it should. Like I said, I used to use OE in the past, I'm not a total newbie but now I am having probs. The only thing that has changed from before compared to now is that I am using dial up thru AOL instead of the MSN DSL I used to have. Please instruct me on what to do. Every time I go to shutdown my computer it freezes up & I
have to shut it off manually.I'm very new on the P.C. & it
seems like when I troubleshoot using the instuctions from
the "help & support" section,that the selections that the
instuctions say to go to(i.e.-file so & so)aren't in my
system!What's that all about?!? I'm running Windows ME,it
was already in the P.C. when it was shipped to me.Does

Try starting up in safe mode. Reboot and press f8.. Once in safe mode, try and shut pc down normally. If no problems, you have a driver problem. Most likely a video problem
